I support the SNP however, were they to advocate an SNP1 SGP2 voting strategy in May's election, I would respect them considerably more and it would demonstrate their ability to put Scotlands national interests ahead of party politics.

We may not talk about it much these days but poll after poll show Scots want independence. And if you don't believe it then do your own research, ask your friends at work, pub, school/college. You might be surprised by the depth of feeling. Quietly, it's become the settled will of the people.

It's time for a late afternoon coffee which, since its almost Gaelic week, reminded me of one of my favourite words. Pronounced sroo or strooback, srùbag is a Scottish Gaelic word that means a cup of tea, coffee etc accompanied by something to eat. Nothing beats a srùbag with friends!

Not only will this lacklustre approach not gain us independence but it will quite possibly not even convince enough indy supporters to get of their couches and go and vote on the day. Words come easily but a credible plan that doesn't include begging to Westminster is what is needed.

I wholeheartedly agree but what next? In the unlikely event of a snap UK election the SNP are currently too weak to win it in Scotland and unlikely to declare a defacto referendum. Reform UK sweep to power and we find ourselves in a worse place than we are now.

This annoys me. Not the fact that Starmer has said no, that's of zero interest to me, but the idea that he should be involved in the process at all. Writing to him and acknowledging the UK government lends legitimacy to their premise that it's their decision. It's not. It's ours and ours alone.

You miss a fundamental fact in your post. Scotland would not be leaving the UK, it would be ending the UK. Independence requires the Treaty of Union to be revoked. When that happens, the entity known as the UK is dissolved. No Kingdoms United, No Union Jack and that's a fact.

If England is so wealthy, why cling to Scotland? Why make it so difficult to leave an 'equal' union? Why are English MPs not demanding they dissolve the union?.. ..because it's not Scotland that's too poor, to be independent..it's England. The union is used to divert Scotland's wealth to London.

I would argue that he is worse. Whilst we expect right wing politics from the Tories, more of the same from the leader of a party that is meant to uphold socialist values is beyond dire. I genuinely pity English voters. Reform, Tory and Labour are all indistinguishable.
