scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 21/05/2026I haven’t found any historical gamers in my area yet, but I did meet a gamer who’s open to trying out some historicals. He’s into Age of Sigmar, so I decided I should give that a try if I want him to try some historical gaming. Of course I did decide to go for a renaissance theme for my ogre army. 0171
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 04/10/2025Also, it might not be on the Sabatoge 3D model, but there is a cannonball embedded in the wall about a foot to the right of the front door. 110
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 04/10/2025I grew up right next to the Manassas battlefield and have spent many an hour sitting in traffic on the road that passed right if front of the old stone house. Yours looks great! I particularly like the effect you achieved on the stonework. 120
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 19/07/2025I recently moved out to the country back in home state of Virginia. It’s beautiful here but I do miss my weekly gaming club back in Nashville. Looking back on my last game at the club a couple months back. Final battle of our Roman conquest of Britannia campaign. 020
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 19/07/202528mm is always pretty but 15mm just feels right for COC. Great looking game. 020
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 06/06/2025The bundle with all late imperial STLs (I haven’t even used all the sculpts here) is $60. Looking at just the legionaries, have 21x legionaries 11 bases for a total of 231 models. The same number of metal legionaries from Pendraken would run $82 plus shipping. Resin cost is negligible. 010
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 06/06/2025I absolutely love them. My only complaint is the occasional weak ankle. I do find that 3d sculpts tend to have more detail than traditional metals in small scales. If you’re a glutton for punishment, it can be hard to resist painting every holstered sword hilt and strap in 10mm. 100
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 06/06/202510mm imperial Romans. 3D prints from Cromarty forge. The bulk of the army was painted last summer but I have been adding some support elements over this past year. 3262
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 15/05/2025Interesting idea. I wonder how well one could drape a mat over top of these rather than having to texture and flock them. 110
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 19/04/2025Jump in! I found 10mm opened up new periods for me because everything just seemed less daunting. 010
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 11/04/2025Haha honestly I have lost a sword or two over 9-10 games with them. Spent an hour looking over the army to find where to glue it back on before deciding it obviously wasn’t noticeable enough to bother. 020
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 11/04/202510mm Ancients Briton army. 10mm 3d Prints from Cromarty Forge STLs. The chariots looks cool, but have proven a liability on the tabletop. Almost as if everybody else stopped using them in the Bronze age for a reason. 4221
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 06/04/2025Love your terrain set up there. The grid completely disappears with the fields you have painted on your mat. 110
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 04/04/2025Been taking some group shots of my 10mm ancients armies lately. First up are the Parthians. 2281
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 01/04/2025Making progress on my 10mm ancient Iberians. 10 bases of Scutarii and 6 bases of Caetrati. Fabulous STLs from Cromarty Forge. 2332
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 24/03/2025Latest update from our club’s Britannia campaign. A great battle this turn. The type of outnumbered last stand you only get in a campaign context. romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve...romavictor4.wordpress.comNews and Events: Turn IVA glorious victory in Britannia – but dearly bought. scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 22/03/2025One of the Roman players last game though my custom Briton encampment far outshined his legionaries’ digs. I just couldn’t let that stand, so I had to make a more substantial Roman fort. STLs from Cromarty Forge. 10mm files printed at 70% so this thing doesn’t take up too much real estate. 080
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 08/03/2025I’m blown away each time you post one of these army shots. Excellent work. Out of curiosity, are you sharing armies you have had for years or are you in the most prolific hobby streak of all time? 100
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 07/03/2025I recognize those palm trees! Used the same ones on my jungle project. You might already have some exciting plans in mind but I was really pleased with the results of gluing some loose coconut fiber on the very top of the trunk. Also sprayed the lower leaves brown. Excited to see how yours turns out 130
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 06/03/2025That army looks fantastic! Some really nice pops of color make them shine. How did you find the red copper miniatures? Do you think they would shrink down to 10mm and still be robust enough to withstand clumsy fingers? 120
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 04/03/2025Turn three of our Britannia campaign is complete. You can find the turn summary and map here: romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve... 0140
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 01/03/2025More like 18s. I tried to match them up to my Blue Moon figures 110
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 27/02/2025Still working on the campaign website updates, but we had a great game in our Britannia campaign the other night. Roman assault on a Briton hill fort. It did not go well for the Romans. 0100
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 17/02/2025I’m working on these same sculpts in 10mm right now. Yours turned out great! 010
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 15/02/2025Excellent work. Your basing really compliments the paint job. 010

scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 08/02/2025Still a work in progress but I’m really happy with how the shields are turning out on these Cromarty Forge Iberian spearmen. 0220
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 04/02/2025Some siege equipment fresh off the painting table for my 10mm Romans. Age of Hannibal has a neat siege system, so the ladders and onagers will come in handy during some briton hill fort assaults during our Britannia campaign. The scorpions will see more regular use in the field. 0201
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 02/02/2025Turn one of our Brittania campaign is wrapped up. The Romans pushed out from their bridgehead and won a river crossing battle against the Britons. You can check out our campaign diary and the map here: romavictor4.wordpress.com/news-and-eve... 2180
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 27/01/2025Another outing for the Parthians against Imperial Romans last week using AOH. It was a close run thing but the Parthians broke the Roman morale clock in the end. Really happy with how we have dialed in the rules for the Parthians. 0130
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 23/01/2025Nope just right over the paint. Mostly painting 10/15mm these days so with the matte medium and future, they end up with a low shine protective coat just from the wash so I skip the matte varnish as often as not. 000
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 23/01/2025I’m still doing this. I’ve messed with the recipe over the years but those are still the basic ingredients. Adding artists matte medium gives a more viscous consistency like many of the premade modern washes. 110
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Played in a huge FPW game at the club last night. The Battle of Gravelotte fought out using Bloody Bug Battles. Some beautiful and classic miniatures were on the table including some Jack Scruby figures. 080
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Thanks to @battlegames.bsky.social for all of the inspiration I got from his book Wargaming Campaigns. I hope you find our efforts worthy Henry. 030
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Starting up an Ancients campaign at my club to fight out the Roman Conquest of Britain. scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 12/01/2025Some more 10mm ancients finished off. Some Parthian/Persian spearmen, a Roman bettering ram, and some “wild charge” markers to indicate which units of ancient Britons haven’t made their first charge yet. 1131
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 10/01/2025A fair point. O Group does have some similarities where platoons can deploy off of combat patrols though. You have a similar level of flexibility in choosing where troops end up rather than having to commit to a plan before fixing the enemy’s position. 220
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 09/01/2025Are modern gamers are more interested in the kinds of flexible deployment and FOW used by JOPs in COC than a more “authentic” system of blinds like in IABSM where forces are committed to an axis of advance before the action kicks off? Have we lost something in terms of a more double blind system? 2120
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 07/01/2025One of the great things about 3D printing is how easily and cheaply I can create those useful and atmospheric tokens and markers that I would rarely shell out hobby money for in the past. Morale clock tokens (coins), impetuous charge, and out of arrows markers for Age of Hannibal. 030
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 30/12/2024I’m not quite as far down the rabbit hole as Michael, but I find working slowly towards big armies across multiple projects simultaneously to be helpful. A big push to get one project far enough along to play and then come back and revisit it from time to time and built it slowly. 020
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 30/12/202455%Z, 63% XY. They looked a little slender with a straight reduction from 28mm. 210
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 29/12/2024So begins another project. 15mm Austrians. Piano Wargames 3D prints. Loving these sculpts and I’m really happy with how the off white of the uniforms turned out. It really makes the crossbelts pop to give some visual interest to an otherwise somewhat bland uniform. 2230
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 28/12/2024The miniatures are all 3D prints from Cromarty Forge. Same goes for most of the terrain. I believe they are available printed from the Plastic Soldier Company if you don’t have a 3D printer. 110
scott177.bsky.social @scott177.bsky.social · 28/12/2024Started working on 10mm ancients back at the end of March. Nice to step back and look at progress every once in awhile. 0412
