#Bengals sadness fact. The set a record (since 1992, maybe ever) for highest time of possession in a game being shut out. BY A LOT.

Appreciate the follow-ups and the thoughts you’ve posted throughout the threads the past few days. Next time I make the three hour jaunt, the drinks and the quarters are on me.

I’ve asked for my own IFPA ranking account to be suppressed. I’m small potatoes anymore, just a guy who occasionally commentates when the chances allow for it. Nonetheless this felt important to do. If I’m going to be disgruntled about the situation, I shouldn’t accept the ranking points anymore.

The more that has come out of the IFPA / OBX situation, the worse and worse it looks. The IFPA is lacking in leadership badly right now, and I applaud the Women’s Advisory committee as the people who stepped up only to be shushed by the higher-ups. Thanks to @kineticist.com for your coverage.

Can someone point to me to a good comprehensive thread on what happened? No matter what, shame on this tournament and shame on this venue. Trans rights are human rights and any venue that threatens that amongst the wonderful and inclusive pinball community we have shouldn’t be welcomed, ever.

Sara Bareilles and @inversephase.bsky.social in the same convo is a wonderful mix that I didn’t know I needed tonight.

Today’s weird #baseball stat. Tarik Skubal of the #Tigers made 33 starts this year and only allowed 5 unearned runs. They were all in a single one of those starts.

Aside from my skepticism of this being on exactly one bullet, why the hell is this being released four hours after the shooting?! I don’t know, maybe let the experts, you know, process evidence first?

In #MLB wackiness, Trevor Rogers has the 4th best WAR for pitchers in the American League in mid-September. He hasn't even his 100 innings yet!

As the other commenter said, it landed in the row in front and if you don’t catch it, it’s fair game. It’s the reaction AFTER though. If you’re so mad that you shame a dad to take a ball from his child and hand it over, you’re terrible. OK to be mad or annoyed. Not OK to react like that.

I hate that because I like that place, but I’m not giving anyone in that circle even a cent.

There is so much of this that screams “the concept is great but …” and it’s all about choice. Enhance if YOU want to, not out of force.

I mean, keep attacking like idiots? Lower that stock price so that I buy and then make coin when the financials are exactly the same and shareholders realize that money is good.

To be clear, the government doing this may not be bad, but my level of trust that this isn’t just somehow finding its way to Trump grift is the thing.

So this looks like a shakedown. The Trump admin saying “you want the rest of that Biden CHIPS money? Give us a 10 percent share” and they’re so desperate and capitulate that they did it.

I’m finding how I used OneNote isn’t how I want to use Obsidian but I’d like to move off an all-Microsoft setup. I’ll post on this more as a thread as I go but instead of “moving” off of OneNote, I feel like I’ll need to unravel it due to heavy use of images and printouts.

So awhile back I was noting that I’m not always into cross-platform. I think after looking at some tools, my view is changing a bit. It’s not about cross-platform compatibility, it’s about more vendor independence where I can. I’m looking into Obsidian right now and moving off of OneNote (1/2)

At least I have the controller in my hands for emulation or MiSTer purposes. Yeah, Analogue is so “it’s ready when it’s ready” but really this sounds like “how long until we can license the already existing N64 core?”

The part of all this that is truly hypocritical is that these are the people who espouse themselves as “alpha male” specimens, yet they are the first to cry and run for the hills around a problem that doesn’t exist. Oh and Stephen Miller is still a fascist horrid human being.

Just Ubuntu, nothing special. I have a lappy with some NVidia graphics on it that it sounds like CachyOS might be a fit for too.

One major point for Linux. I plugged in an XBox controller and with one apt package download it just worked. That’s a hellscape of a process in Windows. Now I gotta try PS3 and see if it can do the pressure sensitive buttons.

I have found another wonderful gamer / bourbon lover. As I’ve gone more down the journey of bourbon, it’s amazing how much crossover there is amongst adult gamers and pinball players. Love it!

I’m also very comfortable in both the edges of Linux, that being either as full on server, or a light usage desktop, but not as a power everyday user desktop. My “advanced app” game on Linux needs work.

100

Scooter 🥃🕹️ @scott.sav2880.net · 03/08/2025

That’s totally fair, and use case totally matters there. On that front as I have highly underutilized Linux machines, it makes sense. The app that inspired this was Goodnotes versus Noteful. Definitely know there’s plenty of good cross platform around note taking, but not for handwriting notes?

100

Scooter 🥃🕹️ @scott.sav2880.net · 03/08/2025

I need feedback from fellow nerds. If you’re a power user, do you take into consideration if an app is cross-platform? I used to almost exclusively but as I move towards Mac only outside of gaming … I’m caring about that much less. What say you?

Got to not only see this and hold it but introduce people to it for several days at ReplayFX and play a game of Street Fighter 2 on it with the original controllers! I think we had a small tournament. Wonder if it’s the only one ever played on it.

Scooter 🥃🕹️ @scott.sav2880.net · 21/07/2025

I have determined that Bluesky needs more people reacting to down systems and services, and to weather in real time, not just NWS alerts. They’re incredibly niche things yet the last two things I’ve had to go to Twitter for. Surely we can do that more intelligently here too. TV stations too!!!

You’re both right and yet we can still all agree that RFK Jr. celebrates this as something that’s somehow a big health deal is laughable.
