Obviously none of this matters but Stephen Kelly was asked a leading question too (I don’t think he was sack Ange?) but he also said Frank will be under pressure. Happy with Frank, I just wish we could enjoy it without joining in the ‘games. Have a good one.

Jay Harris comes to mind on Sky Sports this morning.

I hear Frank is already ‘under pressure’ to follow Postecoglou, from some of the same people who said sacking Postecoclou was the right thing. The new narrative will be along these lines and it will be lapped up.

I think that’s the point. Is Frank the ideal man because he will be more accepting of not being fully supported and maybe sneaking into 4/5th and that’s all people see Tottenham as? When people say X is ideal for Tottenham maybe they should explain why Pep, Klopp aren’t ideal.

The fact I feel I’ll also be defending Frank in 2 years, due to the context of working for this Tottenham Hotspur and whatever else comes up, while I’m told he should be doing better regardless, is also something to look forward to!

I just think from Levy’s perspective he can say what he wants about success, managers will never quite have what they need to win. Until they somehow manage it, then we’ll sack him.

We are all different but e.g. I remember Burkinshaw for the moments he gave us and not the relegation, 40ish% win ratio. I just don’t think Levy kept Poch for the hope of winning anything.

I think my disappointment etc. isn’t just that I liked Ange but comes from the fact I used to think Levy just didn’t know what he was doing on the football side of things and he might get lucky one time but I now think he does know what he is doing.

I agree but in my considered opinion, I think it’s 100% clear (the romantic in me ignored that this might be 100%) Levy prefers the, in his view, less risky way of achieving that i.e. finish in a CL position. Ange bet everything on black and won. ‘Too risky’.

I maybe always thought he was mistakenly rolling the dice but I think we can remove any thought of that now. No interest in our version of success. League position gives the most reliable line of money. A trophy would be a bonus sum of money. Why did Poch keep his job so long?? (I loved Poch FYI)

Is the Tottenham job now just like being a Tesco store manager? You can say all you like about being there for the customer etc. but ultimately you’re there to make Tesco more money. You can win all the awards for best customer service but if you risk the profit, you’re out.

What is everyone got pencilled in for October 2026? I’m just going to draft some hot takes like ‘give the man a chance FFS, we can’t keep changing managers every other season’ or the soon to be classic ‘should have stuck with Ange’.

The mental gymnastics that some will go through now to suggest anything is better than Ange and a trophy should be fun to watch. I was accused of being an Ange fan and not Tottenham. Maybe I should just do that.

Highish league finish is guaranteed money, trophy if it happens. That’s the attitude the club have. I’ve just bumped into non Tottenham fans and it’s all ‘typical Tottenham’.

scotspurs82.bsky.social @scotspurs82.bsky.social · 06/06/2025
The new manager is now perfectly set up to ‘fail’. The expectation will be to be close to winning trophies and a high league finish. If not, the usual voices will start up again. I’ve no idea if Frank would be any good but would the other members of the supposed Big 6 hire him to bring success??

Death, taxes and Tottenham managers going into a new season with a squad not suited to them……

scotspurs82.bsky.social @scotspurs82.bsky.social · 06/06/2025
Exactly. That statement almost implies the squad is good enough to do that already.

scotspurs82.bsky.social @scotspurs82.bsky.social · 06/06/2025
I’m genuinely confused. Why do Tottenham have to communicate one way or the other?Surely it is just ‘other’ i.e. thanks and goodbye. If they had said finish 17th and win the Europa League and your job might be at risk, communicate something.Otherwise this is all media (social especially) driven, no?

If you cloned, let’s say a Pep and put him in charge of the big 6/7/8 clubs who would hamstring him most (no almost a pun intended) and sack him first??? Although I’d still take this over state ownership etc of course.

Bonnyrigg footballer’s medal sold to Tottenham Hotspur
A Military Cross awarded to a Scottish footballer for his heroics on the battlefields of the First World War has fetched £1900 at auction and was bought by his former club Tottenham Hotspur. The medal awarded to Captain James Ross, from Bonnyrigg in Midlothian, was bought by Spurs, the London club he went on to play for after the war.

This point seems to be missed when it comes to people saying why a new manager WILL be better. A new manager isn’t going to be working for a different Tottenham Hotspur.

I know it’s an Ange question but I think the same question could be asked of a new manager. Win a trophy and then the new guy has 2pts from 8 or whatever, I’m not sure he will get a better reaction. Who knows. Assuming there is context I’d like to think we would give a new manager more time but……

Is the target for a new manager to finish 5th in the 1st season and win a European cup in the 2nd? I have a sneaky feeling we will have Change for Tottenham levels of delusion when telling me why things are better. A change MIGHT be better. Just don’t tell me it WILL be because Ange isn’t the man.

This isn’t an Ange In/out post but I’m reading a lot again about how Ange’s style can’t cope with multiple competitions. Does our general league record over the last number of years, with good teams and no trophies won, not suggest we have managed our lack of squad depth by prioritising the league?

If we move on from Ange, what are we thinking the most pathetic, season long, question he will have to deal with from Talksport Moose? Will it be danish bacon pun related?
