Thank you, Kenya WSDC! Team Scotland is pleased to announce we had a blast in Nairobi at the World Championships. We reached the double-octos where we were knocked-out by our fabulous friends the Philippines, Zoe was ranked the 8th best European speaker and all three of our judges broke.

SCOTLAND IS THROUGH TO THE KNOCKOUT ROUNDS AT THE WORLD SCHOOLS DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIPS. After a unanimous win against Brazil, Scotland has secured a spot in the knockout rounds of WSDC. We’ll know our official spot in the break tonight! We can’t wait!

Round 7 prep time just started. We are against Australia, proposing the motion ‘This House Prefers governments in high income countries supplying housing vouchers rather than building social housing’.

In round 6 we faced our friends from the Philippines, proposing the motion ‘This House Regrets the predominant belief that suffering builds character’. We lost unanimously. This leaves us on 4/6 wins. Thank you to the Philippines for a great debate!

In round 5 we faced Slovenia, opposing the motion ‘This House Would allow fans to veto player personnel decisions of sports clubs (e.g. acquiring, releasing, or drafting players, negotiating player contracts)’. We won this debate unanimously, leaving us on 4/5 wins, with 3 preliminary rounds to go.

The draw is out for the first two rounds of WSDC! In round 1 we will face Czechia, opposing the motion 'This House Supports Kenya's Special Economic Zones'. In round 2 we will face Ghana, proposing the motion 'This House Would classify all major organised crime groups as terrorist organisations'.

On 13th June 2026, the Scottish Schools Debating Team held the final training day for our 2025/2026 Junior Squad. As has become tradition, this took the form of a competition - The Junior Scotland Cup.

Over the weekend, Team Scotland participated in the online Austria Pre-WSDC competition as part of our preparation for the World Championships in Kenya next month. Scotland performed very well at this tournament - breaking third overall after the preliminary rounds.
