Don’t lose sight of the “Sayonara, Ronald”. Think about what this country did to the Japanese Americans during the time they are clearly “throwing back” to… When suddenly everyone can hear the dog whistles, it’s because they don’t care to use them anymore; instead using the megaphone.

In the 90’s, we thought SCPL lyrics meant Stephan Jenkins had struggled with a meth problem (did not) That thought might have been my only anchor to reality at that point. I’d play it on repeat and drive around, alone, using it to help me think about pulling through. That song might have saved me.

We need to find a way to make our truths catchier. Like, this is so correct it hurts, but it certainly doesn’t roll off the tongue like their violent, racist slogans do. We need something a crowd can chant. And we need a crowd to chant it.
