Seeing people respond positively gives me such hope. Especially once we reveal *why* we have been hurt financially. Don't want to speak out of turn until the big boss says so, but I have SO MUCH to rant about once I am given the all clear lol

-good we've done it will never be enough to be comfortable asking for site donations/assistance. Our resources are limited and avenues of rev aren't keeping bills paid. Depression is eating me up. We have some ideas to bring funds in but again I worry about people hating it/us. I'm tired.

There was a mother running a table at FAU 10-ish years ago. Their kid was still very little and breastfeeding. Dad brought baby to her for a feeding and people were trying to fuss and deny entry because Dad didn't have a badge... It's silly...families happen, guys! Some of us had kids but that-

Some parents are full time artists that rely on conventions for their income. Some of them have to bring their kids. Kids being banned means possible thousands in sales lost because parent can no longer go.

I wanna make something clear. I don't take issue with the con that made the decision. I love that con and am good friends with many who staff it. I take issue with the people replying to the news either bashing kids, bashing parents, or lacking empathy for how it affects those now unable to attend

I participated in adult scenes. I've run conventions myself with family friendly and adult programing. *I get it*. That doesn't mean this feels good, and I'm not saying they need to change it. Just that it does, in fact, suck that my family will no longer be able to attend a loved convention 🤷‍♀️

I do respect the boundaries of the organization, I'm not sure why you've made so many assumptions at once and called me unabashedly self-centered for pointing out that we felt alienated. I'm not *fighting* their decision. Nor am I saying "think of the children!" And trying to ruin everyone's fun.

1. I am *not* the only parent feeling this way but no, I am not saying I speak for all parents. 2. I don't feel like I'm being attacked or targeted by the convention. I know majority of staff for it. That is not what alienated means.

If I didn't have the cons I went to growing up or online spaces like DeviantArt(rip) and Fur Affinity, I have no idea where I'd be. I was a kid that never fit in at school and "weird"...having those spaces to be *me* during my teens made me feel seen and like I had a "home"

Which I'm totally cool with. And while disappointed I probably won't be able to attend this specific con next year because of this change, it's ultimately their decision. It's the mass slew of people being so mean, rude, and unempathetic to parents and kids that's got me ruffled up.

This! I've seen so much amazing creativity from kids and suits made on cardboard or some other easy to get materials but they put their WHOLE heart into putting it together and be there 💖 as if all these furries weren't all kids once 🙄

And saying to take them to comic or anime cons instead because they are SAFER for kids??? I feel much safer with my kids at a fur con than *any* comic or anime con I've gone to. Be serious here. Pedophiles and people being inappropriate are not *solely* a furry problem and stop pretending it is...

Saying it's to "protect the kids" like some of you them going on about is ridiculous. If attendees can't control themselves, then more needs to be done to keep public spaces in check. I grew up going to conventions with my mom. It helped shape who I am and my love for the community.

Sucks to see people so anti-children when a con announces it's 18+ only now. So many comments saying "good riddance" and "kids don't belong at cons" I'm a parent of 2 young kids. Sometimes, the only way I could sell at a con or attend was if I took my kids. Guess I'll go back to the void 🤷‍♀️
