Recently downsized after running a lab for 30 years at a small chemical blender in NJ. Available for lab work and any other work I can get to help with medical bills for the woman I love! I also do video editing & special effects, code web games & websites

Everyone leaves out the last word of the summary, and it makes it so much worse. He 'wanted to look at it LATER' That implies he took it home with him. So much creepier than just leaving it there after getting that closer look he needed. The USA is DOOMED. Another failed experiment in humanity.

Maybe that's why I preferred The Space Giants! {though Bugs Bunny was a close second} {then Ultraman, Jonny Sokko, Spectreman, 8th Man, Gigantor & all the others that only serve to date me & prove the unpopularity of my tastes} Sadly, my fondest childhood memories are not as well preserved as yours

Can confirm! I ran a lab for a chemical manufacturer for 30 years & it got bought by an evil soulless corporation who began downsizing everyone who'd there 20 years or more (we had folk there with 50 years on the job let go!). The market for such jobs is bleak. Manufacturing in this country is DEAD.

I'm a Scientist and I just lost the job I had managing a lab for 30 years. I have been for sale over 2 months now, but nobody bought or paid for me. Just goes to show they have no idea what they are talking about. Wanna buy a Chemist? I also do video editing and make websites + custom HTML5 Games!

Soak it in water first then let it dry. Softens it up a good deal. I've been there! Of course, I soaked a bible and tore out pages, but it worked just fine.

How can anyone not want to read a Bizarro comic? I'll have you know that I am the guy who was cursing out John Byrne for killing all the Bizarros in his Superman reboot. It was after a comic book show where he was a guest & I was selling. I was melodramatic but had fun I still haven't forgiven him
Bizarro meets Frankenstein's Monster!

The results can be worse if you advertise "Half off!" Be very careful how you phrase these things around a certain clientele.

I believe it was Douglas Adams who said "Anyone capable of getting themselves elected President should by no means be allowed to have the job."

Anything taken to extremes invariably yields bad results. However I do agree that tolerance is, indeed, a paradox.

Given e=mc^2 do you have ay idea how much energy a single gram of matter would give off if converted to energy? I'm sure less than a gram was converted or Alicia would not have been alive to fill that thought balloon with her sensation of feeling heat.

For real debate fun on this topic, ask a conservative why, if life begins at conception, do pregnant women not get to claim a tax deduction for the dependent child they are carrying?

If not for speculation and collectors the supply of vintage & rare antiquarian books would be nonexistent! I just had to sell my 1865 Edition of Dante's Inferno (with the Gustave Dore illustrations) to cover living expenses. Plus, with digitization most books are easily had w/o a hard copy anyhow.

We'll have to agree to disagree, especially on the fate of my books after I die. I know other book collectors and they will not be landfilled! You also disregard reference books and Art books (the bulk of my mountain). Those never get passed on and never should. Most never get read cover to cover!

What about the HUGE chunk of my own library which was from library discards? They have book sales to raise money so hoarding those keeps library books out of landfills & funds libraries at the same time. The rest come from bookstores & yard sales, not likely to ever have found their way to a library

Those old Kirby Monster titles were my first "Favorite Comic(s)" as a kid & hunted them down zealously at yard sales (no comic shops back then!). I grabbed the hero stuff to trade with friends. We carried each other's lists when riding bikes in different neighborhoods. You kids today have it easy!

Yeah, but if he used his head for heads, he'd be compelled to use his butt for tails. He's evil enough to do it on one side, but classy enough to know better on the other. So rather than argue with himself, he just left it alone.

Yes, but not as noticeable as the jump in heart rate! That was an unexpected effect so now I only add less of it and only to other stuff. But I had to try!!

Sciencetician @sciencetician.bsky.social · 04/04/2026
Oh I agree! It's always good to have an emergency plan and I love the fact that libraries exist. That's why my house became one. So I don't have to go out among those nasty humans any more than absolutely necessary (yes; needing a book counts!). You didn't think I was knocking libraries with that?

Yeah, but you usually have to leave the house to get to one of those. Only worth it in an emergency!

It's simple. "Buy one get one" is logically distinct from "Buy two get both at half price." You buy 12, you get 12. As stated. If it was "Buy two get them both at half price." you could have gotten a dozen for the price of 6 but under these terms you'd have stand in line 6 times to get same deal.

Chemist here and spent the last 30 years running the lab for a small chemical place that got bought by a big corp who downsized many of us who had been there decades. My guess is we were making too much from decades of small raises adding up to a living wage. Manufacturing is NOT healthy in America

Sadly the kid doesn't need bone spurs. He has a legitimate out, the bass turd! He's 6' 9 and there is a real height limit of 6' 8 because taller people have trouble in military vehicles & slow others down. They should draft him to a desk job!! It sucks, but it's real: www.yahoo.com/entertainmen...

Thanks! Looks good, but it's only a 3 to 6 month contract job to help with a huge project. I'm tempted to pass because they pay is only 2/3 of what I was making and once you take such a big pay cut it is tough to get back to where you were 🤕

Yeah, there's been a lot of "interpreting" going on ever since The Ecumenical Council made jesus a white guy. I wanna know who decided the serpent was our friend Lucifer (Satan) (or anything/anyone other than a serpent!) (and yes, all serpents talked back then or it would have been a bigger deal).

Make that he was hot and he knew it! We're trying to keep it in context here. It's not Lucifer's fault the bible used the wrong word to describe his looks.

Isn't Lucifer described as the hottest of all the angels in the bible? OK, they say "most beautiful" but this discussion is about hotness and I'm keeping it in context!

2nd step Job Interview today! Gonna get this and end my 6 week unemployment streak. The Institute has a page here, but wont name them until after I get the job and determine if Hippies are allowed to publicly admit working there. I'm gonna celebrate by posting a little Fractal/3D Animation thingy.
