For no real reason, I was looking up something about the ancestry of causal DAGs in path diagrams and came across this picture. I got to see it so you do to. HT to Sewall Wright who both set the course for a very useful analytical tool but also took the time to include cute drawings of guinea pigs
Sketch of Wright's path diagram showing the influence of heredity and environment on the inheritance of color of guinea pigs. Drawing is mostly a directed acyclic graph but includes four cute sideways drawings of guinea pigs.

this is my new favorite diagram
Brachiosaurus projectile vomiting: forces generated and resulting traces
Assuming 50 kg (110 Ibs) of regurgitant, impact velocity from 14 m (45 ft) height, and hard-packed sand as impact site.
h = 14 m (45 ft)
Impact velocity = V = V 2gh = 16.6 m/s; kinetic energy before impact = 6,860 J
Average impact force = 68,600 N

a rare example of a science figure that looks like a shitpost which is just photos of real events: babies trying to climb into tiny toy cars, sit on tiny toy chairs, and slide down tiny toy slides doi.org/10.1126/scie... (fig. 1)
three panels of a figure showing infants committing scale errors

caption:
Fig. 1. Three examples of scale errors. (A) This 21-month-oldchild has committed a scale error by attempting to slide down aminiature slide; she has fallen off in this serious effort to carryout an impossible act. (B) This 24-month-old child has openedthe door to the miniature car and is repeatedly trying to forcehis foot inside the car. (C) This 28-month-old child is lookingbetween his legs to precisely locate the miniature chair that he is inthe process of sitting on.

"what should we label these copper nanotubes?" "well, the symbol for copper is Cu, 'nano' is N, and 'tubes' is T" "let's go with CuNTs then. great work team" doi.org/10.1039/b614... (visual abstract), submitted by @richvn.bsky.social

kicking this account off with a classic doi.org/10.3389/fcell.2023.1339390
