@jchowning.bsky.social led the way on an Op-Ed we authored on what's at stake in WA state and the nation. I bet each one of you can think of a scientific discovery that has benefitted you or someone you love. Science education is at the base of that. www.seattletimes.com/opinion/if-w...

Did you know that elephants rarely get cancer? 🐘🐘 Check out our new open access article in the March/April 2025 issue of The Science Teacher (@NSTA)! It describes a new curriculum unit, Elephants & Cancer, that was designed for high school life sciences teachers and their students. 🧵 1/3
Graphic with text about a new SEP publication, noting that it is available in the March/April 2025 issue of The Science Teacher from NSTA. Underneath, three pictures of students using the curriculum.

ICYMI (especially if you work in Democratic politics): Cutting cancer research is one of the things Americans are most worried about. And one of the things they’ve heard the least about. According to polls from @navigatorsurvey.bsky.social: 1/
New survey data out from Navigator research shows the profound public concern and anger over the cuts in the Musk wilding spree.
Unsurprisingly, voters are more concerned than almost anything by Trump and Musk shutting down cancer cure research (and research into cures for other diseases) in the
U.S. 71% of independents says they're concerned or very concerned about it. 65% percent of voters over all. It's also something they've heard the least about. Here's the raw data for the poll and a powerpoint.
