All the more motivation to get out the vote so we can start cleaning house, starting with Hegseth. And for those stubborn single issue type voters who don’t tend to vote because someone hasn’t passed their idea of a “purity test”, think more holistically, get over yourself, and vote anyway.

Stanley Aronowitz wrote False Promises. It dealt with the topic of liberalism well. Great book. Yeah, the ruling class type of liberals and oligarchs do tend to attempt to tame the working class to maintain capitalism with many false promises. Oligarchs, not many liberals, love fascists at present.

I’m not enthralled either with liberals within a monopolistic capitalist system. But at least they have a framework of democracy, civil liberties, trade unions, etc.. Something to work with. Fascists, they are not. Plus, “liberal” can mean any number of things in a spectrum. Not all are bad.

I’m a dem socialist. But I don’t call people “my enemy” unless they are truly fascists or Oligarchs. I think it is essential to link arms, build up, and treat people with respect and dignity. Murderer Stalin “equated” liberals and moderate socialists to fascists, until WWII when he needed them.

I really doubt that his MAGA audience in Nebraska did your generous analysis and “translation” of trump-speak before cheering and clapping. The audience was awful.

I feel bad for the good people of Missouri who have to put up with these two absurdities, Schmitt and Hawley. Vote these clowns out ASAP.
Cartoon of Schmitt doing a slam dunk of himself trying to play gotcha on Jack Smith. Cartoon of tough guy MAGA Josh Hawley running in fear on Jan.6

And look also at “Foghorn Leghorn” Kennedy accusingly holding the dumb sign. He and Schmitt together make for quite a pair of buffoons.

sci-not-fi.bsky.social @sci-not-fi.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Dumb and Dumber, even funnier: Notice in the photo, Senator Kennedy, accusingly holding up the infamous sign at Jack Smith, looks equally dumb as dirt just like his low IQ “twin” Eric “the little”Schmitt.

CDC: Overall Covid mortality rates among unvaccinated persons were 14.1 times the rates of Covid vaccine recipients. Video & the actual written CDC article are below so you can read for yourself. Not so-called data. Scientists don’t try to bullshit people. Politicians do. youtu.be/FpTKit6u9Wc

Covid vax works. Elderly even more important. Deaths 14.1 times higher for the unvaccinated according to 2023 CDC. Vax provides 85% protection from hospitalization. Plus MULTIPLE other strong studies. No one should be “forced”? Good topic for future debate. Severe reactions, 4.5 people/million.

sci-not-fi.bsky.social @sci-not-fi.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Vax’s provide personal protection but also herd immunity which protects the general population’s PUBLIC HEALTH (think measles outbreaks and polio). Serious side effects occur in 1 or 2 people per million. But vax’s save 3-4 million lives per year, plus billions of $. We’re all in this together.

That’s not enough. They need to enact a comprehensive, humane immigration policy, completely scrap Gestapo ICE, and prosecute ICE perpetrators. I won’t hold my breath, though.

sci-not-fi.bsky.social @sci-not-fi.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
In our current health insurance system, folks who keep up with their vaccinations should pay lower premiums as a positive incentive for taking better care of their personal health as well as the public’s health. If we went to something like Medicare for All, anyone have ideas for added incentives?

I’m definitely not socially conservative. I’m not in a cult. I am not against you. And I am sorry that you are being oppressed by the system. But making snap judgements and labeling people into different “enemy” tribes often times turn out wrong, something the oligarchs thrive on. Persevere.

sci-not-fi.bsky.social @sci-not-fi.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Nonsense. Liberals are not aligned with Stalinist ideology. And liberals, at least U.S. liberals are not in opposition to U.S. social Democrats and democratic socialists. Stalinists are authoritarian/totalitarian. Ironically, fascist Italy and the Nazis may have adopted ideas from ruthless Stalin.
100
sci-not-fi.bsky.social @sci-not-fi.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Your characterization of liberals reminds me of Stalin’s characterization of social democrats, calling them social fascists. He abandoned that in the late 1930’s once he found out he needed help from the social Dems and USA and British liberals to fight and defeat the real fascists, Nazis.

True, yet the hilarious MAGA talking point is like they’re all Stalinist commies. I do like most of them, except my own Governor, Newsom. His caving in to the Ellisons was the last straw for me. Plus, girlfriend Guilfoyle? and French Laundry hypocrisy?made me question his common sense & values.

States should make it harder for cops to collaborate w ICE. Pos.Ex: California. Far Negative examples: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas: REQUIRE local law enforcement to collaborate w ICE. Many States let cops receive ICE training and big stipends.

Well said. Some abstain from voting based on principle (conscience or protest) because they disagree on one narrow issue. That’s their right, of course. But because that happened in 2024, here we are, in the Orange shit show. I hope those voters take a more holistically moral view this next time.

sci-not-fi.bsky.social @sci-not-fi.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Voltaire: "The perfect is the enemy of the good". Where do you stand on this when it comes to voting? Willing to be pragmatic and vote the “lesser of two evils”? Or unwilling to vote based on a principle disagreement, abstaining, even if that helps result in a far worse outcome?

And more than 80M decided to sit on their hands and not vote at all. Even though they were warned what would happen, AND there was the evidence from his first term. If ever there was evidence for the saying "don't let perfection be the enemy of good enough", that was it.

Kamala, as opposed to voting for a MAGAt? Absolutely, I’d vote for her, regardless of my strong disagreement with her & Biden’s arming of Israel and AIPAC $. I agree with her on many issues, though. If it was a primary vote between Kamala Harris and somebody like Jon Ossoff, a different story.

Yes, call out bigotry and ignorance. However, the Left is under a “big tent” with wide variance in age, viewpoints, and sophistication. My feeling is that we should show each other deep respect and acceptance for where each other is at as long as we’re moving generally in the same direction.

IMO, we on the Left, no matter what flavor, should learn to work together better to rip the fascism “grocery bag” so that its contents get spilled: nationalists, bigots, oligarchs, authoritarians, state controlled media/economy, & imperialists. Left-on-Left scorn only strengthens the Right.

A couple people on BlueSky use this pejorative, blue fascists. IMO, Left-on-left insults divide people & make it easier for real fascists like trump. The term social fascist is a term closest to it used by Stalinists against social democrats in the 1920’s… until they needed their help in WWII.

The German stalinist communist party in pre-Hitler Germany had the same simple black and white logic against the social Democrats. And look where their refusal to work together got them. Who bailed everyone out from Hitler’s fascism ? FDR’s New Deal liberals and Britain’s liberals in WWII.

Let’s work together against this orange fascist regime. Not put down each other. Reminds me of some Trotskyists and Maoists I knew in West LA in the 1970’s. Contempt for liberals was cheap and cost nothing, and it let a tiny group feel like they were the vanguard. United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

One AI counter argument is 1. 2 U.S.C. § 26 ( Clerk’s statutory duty). It requires the Clerk to place on the roll anyone whose credentials show they were "regularly elected in accordance with the laws of their States." It’s a ministerial duty; the Clerk has no discretion to investigate or doubt.

A good idea to have BIG Indivisible contingency plans: Michael Luttig laid out, on January 3rd, Republicans might refuse to seat new Dem. House members-elect. This could leave us paralyzed in a Constitutional crisis for a long time, with trumps’ fascists, ICE, etc., poised to crush any resistance.

Billionaire Stink Test: Reports from Mark Halperin think Elon Musk is going to spend $50M to $200 million in Texas before Election Day — TV ads, plus potentially a major ground operation and voter-turnout push. And people in other countries wonder why American uneducated voters make poor choices.
