I think the tech of LLMs, generative "AI," etc is super fuckin' cool. I'm less fond of the hype, the oversell, the yoking of our economy to a small handful of hugely overvaulated companies and the utter contempt the CEOs of these companies clearly have for the vast majority of humans.

I've got this tongue-in-cheek concept, The Crapularity: a future wherein we revert to pre-industrial life because technology becomes more trouble than it's worth. It started as a joke, but these days I wonder...already I think twice before buying on Amazon because going to the store is less hassle.

Why, if Time Machine is supposed to prune older backups, and I regularly getting "out of space" errors from Time Machine that I can only seem to clear by erasing my backup and starting over?

I had a talk with @schvenk.bsky.social yesterday about the open web and federated / open systems like the Atmosphere or the Fediverse. I think the only backdraw really is that it's hard to do "business" on an open web. Even though I also believe you could still build valuable tools around it.
