A compositive of photographs illustration three aspects of the paper. Top panel is a photograph of square plant growth chambers about 1 cubic meter in volume used to subject growing plants to elevated CO2 levels. The lower right panel is a photograph of Arabidopsis plants, eight of which were grown under ambient levels of CO2 and eight of which were grown under approximately 3´ ambient levels of CO2. The plants grown under elevated CO2 are noticeably larger.

We find that CO2 levels fluctuated on short timescales (<100,000 years), from background levels of 623 ppm (range: 473 to 773 ppm) to as much as 1373 ppm (range: 882 to 2082 ppm) during the Taghanic Crisis (2/3).
Two graphs: Top graph shows published CO2 estimates for the Eifelian, Givetian, and Frasnian. Values range from ~500 to 1500 ppm. Bottom graph shows new high-resolution CO2 estimates in the Givetian. Values range from ~600 ppm to 4500 ppm, but most likely values reach ~1400 ppm.

What many don't realize is that the annual average daily temperature for Lafayette, Louisiana (69F) falls right between that of Los Angeles (66F) and Bermuda (72F). Some might say we have the optimal Goldilocks temperature. I think the city should market that more.
