The language employed in EU regulations and directives can hardly be called ‘human communication’ 😀. Human oversight needs to be there but I’m sure increased automation is possible for many intermediate steps

lower cost (joint interpretation/translation that is labeled as various languages in some cases?). I’d hope the real solution comes through increased automation that should lower cost for all languages eventually. (And yes: 🇧🇦 🇲🇪 🇷🇸 🇭🇷 basically share a language, but this is just not true for 🇲🇰 🇧🇬)

Baby Steps: 🇲🇰 Foreign Minister in Sofia today to initiate dialogue with his 🇧🇬 counterpart. Important, but this cannot remain a one off to allow building real trust and a constructive relationship - as already possible for Corridor 8 - on the more sensitive topics of minorities/identity/language.

If anything the AfD could easily blame the current government (in Germany - not Russia of course 😉) of endangering interests of German minorities abroad (that said German minorities are absent in political discourse)

Arguably, the Constitutional changes on including BGs as a minority are harmless (and were in fact agreed by the previous MK government) - but the underlying lack of trust vis-a-vis BG re further demands down the road is indeed what makes most MKs weary of accepting any compromise already now…

More Europe is the answer to many challenges we currently face - but many national politicians see it as a zero sum game at best for them personally. Whatever the origins of this sudden influx, arguably in this case Spain reacted quite well. Most of the young people were returned in a matter of 48h. Can’t get much better than that. Full prevention in the Ceuta settings seems unrealistic. What has to get”better” is the reaction of EU politicians.

I wouldn’t know to be honest - but would assume that this is both to the urgency in providing accommodation for many people and the fact that rebuilding old architecture in an earthquake safe manner was not deemed realistic / too costly. Tange had the advantage to come from a JP ‘quake background’
