One I've been waiting for: sumptuous collab between Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery, & @thornbridge.bsky.social. Fermented using Burton Union Garrett helped rescue from Marston's. Pale, crystal & chocolate malts with Fonio ancient African grain adding cream & fruit notes. Superb, rich and fruity.

Happy Beer Day Britain everyone! In the absence of a breakfast beer (an oversight on my part, obvs), I’m heading out to the pub in a bit to meet Beer Day Britain founder, @schoolofbooze.bsky.social herself, for a Sunday roast…& perhaps the odd beer or two. #CheersToBeer #BeerDayBritain

This is beer related art by my brilliant and talented sister @helenpeyton.bsky.social. It is a lino-reduction print (Helen's speciality - a very tricky technique to perfect). It is barley under the Milky Way, growing in a Yorkshire field .

I've been in Hay, the book town in Wales, to host a cider tasting and talk at How The Light Gets In Festival. It's the type of amazing festival of ideas where a Nobel prize winning mathematician & philosopher Roger Penrose cosies up with a booze mistress (me) in the book shop!

A very big cheer for Hiranthi Cook of Cidentro Cider for winning GOLD at World Alcohol Free Awards 2025 I was one of the judges and this was the only gold medal awarded for cider. Hiranthi only recently started making no alc cider so to win a major award on her first try is most impressive!

Delicious fresh juice ciders by @twofarmerscider. Made in Herefordshire mostly from Dabinett & Michelin bittersweet cider apples. The fruit cider is gorge, made with real fruit juice - raspberry, strawberry & blackcurrant not sugar packed syrup & co-fermented with the apples.

So I have seen the whole "medieval alewives are the archetype for the modern stereotypical witch depictions" thing going around.... again, and I thought I would do a bit of myth-busting. Grab a seat, this is a long one. #skystorians
One of the oldest extant illustrations to picture witches, dating to 1451 in Le Champion Des Dames. Features two women, one on a broom, the other appears to be on a pole of some kind.
