Painting some embroidery hoops so I can frame a couple of cross stitch projects that I finished stitching but have been languishing for ages because actually completing things is one of my very real struggle points

I took a needle-turn applique class at Quilting Mayhem in Snohomish, WA today and it was absolutely fantastic. It's been ages since I've been in a crafting class (since I'm usually vending at shows) and I'd forgotten how much I love being in that kind of setting and learning new things 💗🪡

Maybe one day I'll post a photo of coloring progress without Gomez helping, but today is not that day

I've been feeling incredibly frustrated with the world this week so I've picked up my Hyrule map cross stitch project so I have something to stab repeatedly while also feeling productive. I'm excited to add bright blue today after all the green, brown, and grey

Love this shop community so much 💗 Here’s our thought wall for the first six weeks of the year:

A dry erase board with blue writing. At the top: What are you choosing to embrace this year? Responses in different handwriting from various community members: that I will probably never follow a pattern exactly, be what I would rather see, my cat 🐾, chaos 😃, boundaries, the things in my life I can control, response over reaction, that I can take my life in a whole new direction, community/creativity/JOY, my free spirit, fiber prep from fleece to spin, listening to medical advice, happiest place on earth ☺️

Another day, another coloring book page, and another awkward attempt in forcing myself to be random

A color card #026 (featuring pink and purple flowers) sits atop a coloring book page of random triangles colored in the same colors as the card: light mauve, dusty purple, bright pink, grey-blue, and green.

I was telling a friend at lunch that I really want more cats and crafts in my Bluesky feed, so here's Gomez and a coloring book page for yours 🐈‍⬛ ✍️

A black cat sits on a smiling caucasian woman's shoulder. The woman is wearing glasses and her hair is pulled back into a ponytail. The cat looks down disapprovingly. There is a Nightmare Before Christmas inspired painting in the background with a pumpkin and Jack Skellington's face in the moon

Another exercise in pushing through perfectionism and just finishing the damn thing. Page 1 of Satisfying Patterns coloring book using Ohuhu markers and and a card from my Color Cube. I used a random number generator to pick my color card so I didn't have to decide on a pallette 😜

Yesterday I channeled my anxiety into a new squiggles drawing. Partway through I switched gears and declared this piece a rough draft, but instead of chucking it I kept going and finished it up today. Was it what I planned? No. Did it turn out like I wanted? No. Am I glad I finished it anyway? Yes.

I finished my second #epphexies block and wanted to show it to you, but Gomez decided you needed a photo of him instead. He's probably not wrong.

Wish me luck! I'm embarking on a new #crochet project - the first I've attempted since breaking my hand 😅 Yarn is Schmutzerella Yarns Brilliant DK in the colorway "Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights?!"

A small flat black crocheted circle hangs from a teal size E crochet hook that's protruding from a ball of black sparkle DK weight yarn from Schmutzerella Yarns in the colorway "Hey, Who Turned Out the Lights?!"
The yarn sits atop an obscured crochet pattern with the blurry title "Dragon Head & Body" at the top of the page. A section of a cozy blue and orange quilt is is the background.

Nothing like a slowly growing stack of #EnglishPaperPiecing hexies I can play with to make me feel like I've actually done something with my day. I'm spending my evening basting hexies and listening to The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose and trying to soothe my frazzled nerves from a stressful day

Two stacks of hexagons sit on a grey silicone mat on a pink lap table. The stack to the right is of turquoise fabric-wrapped and basted English Paper Piecing hexagons and on the right is a stack of paper hexagons glued to fabric hexagons waiting to be basted. In the middle is my hexagon-in-progress with fabric wrapped around 4 sides of the paper hexagons with a needle sticking in ready for the next stitch threaded with pink thread. To the right behind the stacks there is a small yellow pyramid pin cushion that looks like a chicken. Beyond that is a clear storage container with dividers to sort and store the finished basted hexagons.

Feeling absolutely drained from my emotional bandwidth spread so thin over the past couple weeks, so I'm spending the day looking for a win in this coloring page wall calendar. Just a few flowers left on the February page. Gomez is here with support and snuggles, as always 😻

Today was the first time I was able to comfortably lift yarn boxes (30+ lbs) since tearing my rotator cuff last March and breaking a bone in my right hand in September. This was a huuuuge step towards feeling like my shoulder is close to "normal," but I clearly need to keep working on strength 😅💪🎉

Thank you for helping with my hexies block layout, Gomez.

A pink lap table littered with green, blue, and turquoise English Paper Piecing hexagons with a black cat laying atop it all. He has a look on his face suggesting he is the most important thing in the room which, of course, he is.

Spending my afternoon snuggled up under my quilt from @charansachar.bsky.social with Gomez (not pictured because he tunneled under the quilt and is curled up on my legs) while I slowly make progress on my epic #EnglishPaperPiecing hexies project. Of course I'm adding dragons in honor of Onyx Storm 🖤

A clear divided storage box sits atop a blue and orange improv quilt. The box is filled with blue, green, and turquoise fabric-wrapped paper hexagons as well as coordinating thread. In the foreground there is a stack of joined pairs of hexagons featuring a green dragon breathing fire on a blue background.

I just finished listening to Onyx Storm. I've never had that strong of an emotional reaction to a book. Now I'm super bummed I can't immediately jump into the non-existent book 4, but am also relieved I have ample time to let my heart heal before giving Rebecca Yarros a chance to shred it again.

I have been overwhelmed by starting over with a new social media platform. My brain has been saying "if I'm going to have a presence here, then my first post should be meaningful or something." Instead, here is Gomez sitting on my paper while I try to color because progress is better than perfect.
