Saw the new cut of Miami Vice at Beyond Fest last night. Cool to see the film with all the pieces and much more Jamie Foxx back in it. Definitely a more coherent version, but I prefer the immediacy of the theatrical cut. Save the go-fast boats; just needle-drop me in with Jay-Z and Linkin Park

Here's a piece I'm really excited to roll out: An in-depth interview with Dropout's Sam Reich, diving deep on the game design of Game Changer season 8. Do I make a parody of myself by bringing up the concept of "the magic circle"? Oh baby, you bet I do. avclub.com/game-changer...

Are we allowed to stop being nice about Digger? The movie absolutely sucks. The sad thing is, it doesn't know how unfunny it is. A laugh-free experience that constantly praises itself for its humor, which, charitably, has the flop-sweat energy of bad improv. They're DYING up there so they get louder

The instinct to share something personal about Pac, but the amount of respect, care and commitment he had to wrestling and to being a professional is a line I can't bear to cross - but let that remind you just how good he was. Forever loved, forever respected. What a fucking Bastard.

No spoilers, but I hated Digger, which felt like the worst episode of Veep played at the loudest possible volume. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up making less than Coyote Vs. Acme.

It's also, like, it's not canonically a good year in the grand scheme of film criticism, but it's a huge movie year for me, personally, and, I think, the other critics polled. It's the nature of the beast: Some gems will inevitably get left off in favor of others

I remember standing at the top of the Hollywood Arclight parking garage post-premiere, and Defamer's Mark Lisanti waving his hand over the spotlight-drenched ceremony. "You did this." We both knew I'd done something uniquely stupid. I don't want this to be my legacy, but, career-wise, it's fitting.
