one thing that really gets to me is the amount the guidance talks about preventing “alarm or distress” to cis service users, when not a single ounce of thought has gone into the amount of alarm and distress us trans people are experiencing

It read: “A legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from a separate or single-sex service for their own biological sex might be to prevent alarm or distress for other service users.
“A trans man might be excluded from the women-only service if the service provider decides that, because he presents as a man, other service users could reasonably object to his presence, and it is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim to exclude him”.

also want to highlight this bit. now would be a great time for lesbian and gay organisations/groups to explicitly state their inclusion of trans people

this is the most interesting part because their idea of “appropriate” healthcare for trans CYP is to provide none? also, not convinced the gov knows what evidence-based means

Implementing the Cass Review ensures that this will happen. The government does not, therefore, believe an independent evaluation of the Cass Review would be beneficial and there are no plans for an independent evaluation.
