We Bury The Dead (2024) 6/10 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️💀💀💀💀 A unique setup for a zombie film. Daisy Ridley is great. Its biggest problem is the zombies feel unnecessary. There's no way for the infection to spread and they really aren't much of a threat. It captures the emotional devestation but never the dread.

The Masque of Red Death (1964) 7/10 🟥🟥🟥🟥🟥🟥🟥💀💀💀 A slow start leading up to the climactic party, it's mostly just establishing that Prospero is a dick, but Vincent Price relishes every ounce of cruelty. He's so much fun to watch! The finale and the final scene with the hooded men are excellent!

Horror remakes where everyone but one actor is replaced by Muppets. Reboot Scream, in every new entry, Neve Campbell has to figure out which Muppets are trying to kill her this time. Stu and Billy are Gonzo and Fozzy, Stu: Gonzo Billy: Fozzy Tatum: Ms Piggy Randy: Kermit

The Descent (2005) 7/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀 Impressive cinematography, cool creatures, and gnarly kills! Does a good job conveying the claustrophobia and darkness of the caves. The characters unfortunately blend into each other, it's hard to tell them apart. Very suspenseful with an exciting 2nd half!

Infirmary (2026) 2/10 😱😱💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 There's scarier actual security footage out there. Nothing happens until the last 10 minutes. Some of the worst acting and dialogue. The premise means we're switching between the same 2 shots. An obvious twist. A few good scares at the end but this was not good.

Session 9 (2001) 5/10 🦽🦽🦽🦽🦽💀💀💀💀💀 Good ideas but bad pacing. The non-horror was more engaging then the horror. The tapes of the sessions were creepy. It starts out establishing the characters well, but by the time it gets to the weak plot twist I've lost interest. Too slow a burn with no payoff.

Spree (2020) 6/10 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗💀💀💀💀 A weird little movie that's quite a bit of fun! An insane cast but it kinda works. Don't expect deep characters or great acting, but it's a decent satire of our obsession with social media. Needed some better kills or drama or something to take it to the next level.

Resident Evil (2026) 8/10 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️💀💀 A great adaptation that understands what elements define the series. Tons of easter eggs for fans of the games. A good blend of body horror and humor. Fun meta-videogame elements like Scott Pilgrim. Didn't love the ending as much as others but liked it overall!

Just rewatched Obsession... Knowing Nikki's behevior hasn't been modified and that she's instead a passenger in her own body [like Get Out] makes those early scenes so much creepier. Inde Navarrette really nails the duo roles of Nikki and the entity and I hope she gets recognition at the oscars.

The Wailing (2024) 8/10 📸📸📸📸📸📸📸📸💀💀 A clever metaphor for violence against women with great acting from the whole cast! Like Ju-On, it is structured around different victims of the same haunting. Plenty of creepy scenes. It ends very abruptly, just as it felt we were getting somewhere interesting.

The Stuff (1985) 7/10 🍧🍧🍧🍧🍧🍧🍧💀💀💀 A satire of the food industry, not too far fetched. Michael Moriarty is endearing as the sleezey yet charming Mo. The stuff itself is like the blob. Feels a bit like a Doctor Who episode. The third act goes a bit astray, but it's campy fun with some gross shots!

Nosferatu might be Robert Eggers' worst movie, which is to say Robert Eggers doesn't miss. One of, if not the greatest living filmmaker, and Werwulf looks like it's going to be another masterpiece!

The Burning (1981) 7/10 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💀💀💀 Change a few names around and it's a Friday the 13th movie. Despite the derivative plot, it's a pretty good 80s slasher. The real draw is the man himself Tom Savini, who does some of his best work here. Cropsy looks cool, a bit more grotesque than Jason.

Terrified (2017) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 Scary as hell! Lots of great moments that build tension. The entities look amazing. Clever uses of perspective. Good performances. The plot can get a bit confusing with some unnecessary time jumps but it's a solid story. Check it out if you want a good scare!

Pieces (1982) 7/10 🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚🪚💀💀💀 A crazy beginning with an even crazier ending! This film has some gnarly kills, a pretty gory slasher. It's like the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacare sounds like it is. Strong giallo elements. The poor acting holds this movie back, but it's still a very fun watch!

Night of the Reaper (2025) 3/10 😱😱😱💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 A great start that unfortunately failed to hold my attention as it went on. There's some solid directing with some decently thrilling scenes, but the dialogue is corny and the plot is too convoluted for the sake of a 3rd act twist to care.

Altered States (1980) 8/10 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀 The plot is absurd, but once you accept the premise, there's some great scifi body horror. Beautiful, surreal imagery. Great makeup effects. Edward is the classic mad scientist. The pacing could be better in the 1st half, but the stronger 2nd half is great.

Buffet Infinity (2025) 7/10 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔💀💀💀 A one-of-a-kind experience. Very experimental, a slow build. A scathing satire of consumerism, big business, and media. Dark awkward humor mixed with some seriously creepy imagery. Far from perfect but I appreciate the creativity and risks the film took.

Phantom of the Paradise (1974) 8/10 🍖🍖🍖🍖🍖🍖🍖🍖💀💀 A campy rock musical with great songs by Paul Williams. It wears its inspirations proudly. A critique of the music industry and an exploration of true artistic vision. Gerrit Graham is barely in the film but shines so brightly, stealing the show. RIP
