It got a lot less misty at the office today (see previous post), and I was finally able to see that the field of corn which lies to the left had been harvested, but the apples are still on the trees. I have no idea as to what varieties they are, but they look tasty, even at this distance!! 😋🍎

Pictured is an apple orchard, with trees still full of fruit - red apples and yellow apples. I wonder when they will be plucked from the trees?

Bright red apples, quite vibrant in colour! Makes me think of Snow White and the apple she was offered by the wicked Queen.

Yellow apples - possibly a variety like the Golden Delicious?

It's why I only go to the office once a week... the rest of the week is on a hybrid basis. There is a plan to move the office to a more accessible location, near Frankfurt airport, but this has been pushed back since I started here. I do actually prefer an office environment, my cat less so. 😿

We love Hauptwache! We always stop for a drink at the Café Hauptwache, before we head off in whichever direction. Usually take a look at the Eisener Steg once in a while... need to take a wander on the other side one day. It has been a long time since I've done that.

It's not a bad spot, is it? I live down near the Rhein, so the countryside is a bit more flat, and full of farmlands. Here it's a bit more hilly, also with farmlands! Just grateful it's not in the city... *shudder*

Ancestry.com have carried out their annual update, with regards to one's ancestry, and every year, my Nordicness gets baked in even more. 🇩🇰🇳🇴🇫🇮🇸🇪 And because I know more about the origin stories of my parent's families, I know these results are spot on. Still tickled at the 4% NW Germany... 😁🇩🇪❤️

A screenshot, showing the ancestral regions of Yours Truly. My DNA is 47% Danish (thanks, Mum), 39% Norwegian and 8% Finnish (thanks, Dad), with the last bits being 2% Swedish and 4% German, which is from both parents.

So I'm 96% Nordic, and 4% Northwestern German... whoop! I was born in Norway to a Norwegian father and a Danish mother, so none of this is a complete shock, but the results just show that none of us can claim to be "pure" anything... we all have a degree of migration ancestry.

My paternal grandfather was one of nine siblings, and most of those emigrated to the US, or were born there. My great-grandfather went back to Norway, where my grandfather was then born, and remained there until he died.

My maternal grandfather's bloodline comes from Jews, which is where the Northwestern Germany comes in, because the family moved north into Denmark to avoid further persecution, and sadly, my great uncle died at Bergen-Belsen during WWII, after being sent there from Denmark by the Nazis. 😢

Morsche, Lieblings 😊 had to nip to the doctors' Praxis this morning, and got to see this beautiful sunrise as I drove from Das Dorf to the next Dorf. Sometimes I wish there were places I could stop and take photos en route, so when this opportunity arose, I took it...

I love these Fachwerkhäuser, and while we don't have as many here as in other regions, the ones we do have are quite pretty. Took this photo after I'd been to the doctors, and I then walked across the road to see if there was still a beautiful sky, and there was.

Hallo, hallo, Lieblings... how are we all on this lovely Sunday? While I bead up a chain for this gorgeous beaded pendant I finished last week, before taking a detour and making a quick bracelet, 'cos sparkly, I'm listening to an old favourite (Eagles), after watching a doccy on Netflix last night.

Finishing off a beaded doughnut pendant, 'As It Was', designed by Sabine Lippert, beaded by me. This is my third such pendant, as Sabine released a kit in these gorgeous carnival colours, and I couldn't resist! The colours are gold fuchsia, soft turquoise, opaque lilac and soft orange, with some sun orange, vintage copper and bronze tones.

My minor detour was a thin bracelet, beaded up in champagne gold and decorated with micro crystals in metallic purple. I love these easy makes, as they can add a bit of something to an outfit, and I'll probably pair this with the pendant, when I wear it.

The completed doughnut pendant, with a beading board filled with purple and bronze seed beads, a needle and purple thread, which will become a chain for the pendant. This is the "boring" part of the make, but music helps the time pass.

Love the hot air balloon in the background of the weir... always loved visiting Bath, back when I lived near Bristol. Parking was a 'mare, but visiting Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights was worth any frustration with parking! 😊

And there's another button that you can press, to set the lights to turn on automatically. I usually have the spider plants outside in the summer, on the balcony/catio, and bring them inside for the colder months, and this also allows their babies to hang and grow until I plant them up. 😊

With three windows that open, we never usually open the middle one, so that's where I wanted it to go. Measured up to make sure it fitted, and never pressed an order button so fast! 😂😂 It also has grow lights, and with a timer, you can set it for 3hrs, 9hrs or 12 hrs of light, so perfect for winter.

It's great, right? Not even the intention to keep the plants away from the cat, just that I was losing the whole windowsill to the plants, and my sister-in-law saw the idea when she was visiting her sister in the UK. She'd ordered one for herself before she got back 😂 I then saw it, and LOVED it! 😆

The faux candles are perfect for that! I have boxes of real candles, which I do light up in the colder months, but these gifted candles are so handy, especially as they recharge on a single tray and they have a remote, which I can use to set their brightness and the duration of their "burn". 👍🏻😊

Placed all my bits back in the cabinet. As some of you know, I make beaded jewellery, and needed somewhere to store it, that doesn't attract dust (my least favourite household chore is dusting 🫣😆), and this cabinet fits the bill perfectly. It also increases the storage spece of the dresser.

Pictured is a recently refurbished cabinet, doors open, filled with personal effects, including perfume, jewellery, makeup, and assorted knick-knacks. For lighting, I used two rechargeable LED "lamp" bulbs that you can either use as E27 bulbs in lamps that don't need to be plugged in, and the screw-in part attaches to the bulb magnetically. You can thus remove the bulb from the screw-in section, and using a metal disk that is supplied with the bulb, attach the bulb to any surface, as the metal disk has a sticky side that you can apply to your desired surface. The bulb also has a handy little hook, so it can also be hung up - I loved the multipurpose nature, and as they are rechargeable, they're also eco-friendly and economical, so a thumbs-up from me!

The cabinet is now shown with the doors closed, which helps keep dust off my treasures! I forgot to mention that the lights also come with a handy little remote, where you can set the brightness levels, the light intensity, and also set a timer, so the lights are great for using at night, before bed, when you're about to drift off to sleep, and you don't need to get out of bed to turn the lights off, or reach out of cosy covers - perfect for winter. 😊

If you're an interior decorator, and you enjoy using sticky-back wallpaper, I tip my metaphorical hat to you... that stuff needs to be added to the list of things not to work with!! 😆😂 Not perfect, but heck, I saved this beauty from being taken to the recycling centre, so that's a win! 😁

Pictured is the interior of a large wooden cabinet, with glass shelving and lights. I am not a fan of dark(er) wood, so I decided to wallpaper the back of the cupboard, using stick-backed wallpaper. Quite the challenge and I'm not entirely happy with the result, as I am a bit of a perfectionist, but it will do! The cabinet is in our bedroom, so not going to be inspected by all and sundry!

Same cabinet, but with the glass doors closed. Whoever made the cabinet made it with lead-effect glass doors, to resemble old-fashioned windows,with lead cross pieces for decoration.

Wow, that looks a lot more robust than the one we have. We adopted her with accessories, which was useful, as our previous furry madame wasn't really into cat toys. It only needs the bias-binding restitching, so not too much damage, in the scheme of things. 😊

Oh, I can believe it - if not, why not? We were in Italy a few weeks ago, and indulged in some Sunday grocery shopping ourselves. And when I lived in the UK, I usually did my shopping on a Sunday, but in all honesty, I don't miss being able to shop on Sundays/Ruhetage. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤭

Guten Morgen from Das Dorf on what is essentially the last Feiertag until *cough* the end of the year. Feels weird to have a Ruhetag on a Saturday, but I'm not complaining! Oh, and happy #Caturday from this floof, who continues to be a delightful addition to our home! 😻😻😻

A view of our purry miss in her favourite play toy, her tunnel, which she is slowly shredding to pieces, it gets so much action! She loves going inside it, sprawling out, and then attacking any hands, or pretend mice we dangle through the central hole, and she has sharp claws and even sharper senses!!

Peekaboo, I see you! The blue trim around the central hole is slowly coming undone, thanks to her constant attacks through the poke hole - I was gifted a sewing machine for my birthday, so I'm going to attempt to repair that at some stage.

Haggis lying on her new favourite Sisal scratch bed, which I might have accidentally-on-purpose sprinkled with catnip, to help the bonding process. 🤭

She also has her favourite teddy and catnip gift toys, which she loves occasionally attacking.

A photo of this morning's sunrise, with the sun barely visible through the foliage of the trees, but the sky was bright orange, which reminded me of the "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight, red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning" rhyme. We are expecting rain today, so I guess there is something in it!

Good morning from irgendwo in Niedersachsen... We're staying with friends, who live near Celle, which has a beautiful and rather picturesque old town, thanks to hundreds of half-timber houses. It is also where we met two young men who are completing their Wanderschaft - an amazing tradition!
