When I post the Monsters of Ohio art, some dipshit will bray about it being "AI" despite my crediting the artist (Michael Koelsch), there being many examples of his work in the pre-"AI" era, and my long-established "No 'AI'" rule regarding my work. These "AI" finger-pointers can go fuck themselves.
The really excellent cover for "Monsters of Ohio," by Michael Koelsch. It has a tentacle monster using coupons!

I will be forever grateful to @tristanelwell.bsky.social for his Starter Villain cover art. The moment we all saw it we were all, "Oh, we're gonna sell a LOT of this one." And we were right! Authors, please use Tristan for all your cover art needs.

For everyone wondering if I am in fact secretly tempted to by Rick Nielsen's five-necked guitar, the current bid for which is $100,000, I will tell you that I have an immutable rule, which is not to spend more for a guitar than I spent buying the church. This rule continues to serve me well.

It's not "super intelligence." It's not even "intelligence." It continues to fuck up easy questions, like to whom I dedicated my most recent book. Also, Mike Johnson is a craven, simpering weasel and none of the people standing near him in this video respect him even the tiniest bit.
"To whom did John Scalzi dedicate The Shattering Peace"

OR IS IT
The truth is in the stars, but just use it as a guide

To give you a quick-and-easy indication of what The Bee's movie critic, John Scalzi, thinks about the films he reviews, The Bee has added the easily recognizable "star" system.

The highest rating will be four stars, meaning that you really should try to see that film, down by half-star increments to zero stars, which means that, if there were any justice in the world, the film would spontaneously combust in its canisters.

These thumbnail ratings are supplementary to the written review, and therefore inexact at best. For example, "Citizen Kane" and Alan Parker's "The Commitments" each may rate four stars. That doesn't suggest that the latter film is as good as the former. All that is said with a four-star rating is that both movies are worth going out of your way to view.

The rating system:

★★★★: A very good movie, possibly great. Merits special attention.

★★★: A good movie. Worth your time and money.

★★: Fair to mediocre. If you really want to see a movie but already have seen everything else, go ahead and see this one.

★: A poor movie. Wait for cable. Or if you must see it in a theater, go to a matinee, when the financial damage is less severe.

No stars: A flat-out rotten flick. Enter at your own risk. Don't say you weren't warned.

Good morning, Bluesky, from rural Ohio.
There is a cornfield in the foreground with a big red barn in the middle and a bunch of trees in the background. In the morning sky the just-past-full moon is hanging low, getting ready to set.

Whatever you do, don't smoke an entire brisket at a job interview, it's a lot of equipment to bring in, it takes a really long time to do it right and those conference rooms have notoriously poor ventilation

Checked in our pollinator field this afternoon and happy to report it was full of bees and butterflies. Our nefarious plan is working!
A plot of land filled with clover grasses. There are also pollinating flowers in there, but they are sparse at the moment. They will likely grow in more fully next year. A pearl crescent butterfly amongst the clover.

Spotted at a diesel pump in Miami County, Ohio, which went overwhelmingly for the current president in the last election. I don't think it's going to be a good midterm for him.
The price of diesel is $5.98, and written in Sharpie underneath that price are the words "Thanks Trump." One assumes those words are sarcastic.
