Early morning clouds. Just a little moment of quiet to start the week. #clouds #photography #nature #lookingforthebrightspots

Soft billowy gray and white clouds circle around some breaks of blue sky. Taken around 6:45 AM before the sun could brighten too much behind them.

Morning walk… agave in bloom. Looking up you can’t tell but the stalk is at least 20’ tall. It’s essentially created a weird-looking new little tree for us. #bloomscrolling #succulents #photography #california #lookingforthebrightspots

Morning walk… this rose bush (much bigger than what you see here) arches out over the lake. The leaves reflected in the lower right are the top of a tall sycamore. Nature heals. #bloomscrolling #roses #photography #lookingforthebrightspots

Morning walk… It’s June Gloom in So-Cal, my favorite season: misty-foggy-cool mornings with the sun showing up by noon. Sending you all peace. #california #nature #photography #lookingforthebrightspots

View of lake with tres on the far shore reflected in the calm water. All is gray (but the photo is full color) and the distance is blurred by the misty fog.

Not from this morning’s walk, but a favorite from a recent trip to Dublin. These giant tulips just glowed in the sun. My photo doesn’t do it justice. #bloomscrolling #tulips #photography #dublin #ireland #lookingforthebrightspots

Close up of vivid magenta tulip petals, wide open to the sun. They glow against the bright green grass behind.

They are very resilient and persistent. Which is one reason I love them so much.

2 years ago I bought some poppies but never planted them, due to a family emergency. I just left them for dead, tipped over in their pots thru the winter before finally throwing them out. Last spring a few popped up. This year, dozens. You just never know. #bloomscrolling #california #photography

Large cluster of California poppies in full bloom. Their golden-orange petals glow from the sun overhead.

Just needed something bright and beautiful. Nature knows. Take care. #bloomscrolling #roses #nature #photography #lookingforthebrightspots

Peachy warm pink fully open rose. Ruffled petals are tinged with a light golden glow in the morning sun. Close up shot of large rose with a few other blooms in the background, all surrounded by deep green leaves and stems.

Morning fog rolls in quickly and the sky is already graying over as I make this post. I love the early morning colors more than any other time of day. There’s a softness that is only real for just a little while. Wishing you all peace. #nature #photography #california #lookingforthebrightspots

The sky has a soft blue lightness with fog and low clouds starting to rise and fill in the gaps with their pink-tinged grayness. The nearby hills are starting to fade into the fog and the trees in the foreground a defined contrast to the softer shapes beyond them.

Wide open peony with petals of pale peachy gold edged with deeper pinks. Literally if a peach was a peony. Center yellow stamens and bits of green leaves.

Morning walk with wisteria. It’s too hot here for March and it’s too early for them to be in full bloom because it’s too hot too soon (did I mention it’s too hot?) but they smell sooooooooo sweet. #bloomscrolling #wisteria #spring #photography #lookingforthebrightspots

Looking up from underneath a large wisteria vine. Purple blooms hang from their bright green stems in contrast to a light blue morning sky.

Wisteria bunches hang lazily from their branches, with calm lake water behind them reflecting the hills above them.

Morning walk with lupine in full bloom. Other than California Poppies, these are my favorite wildflowers. Sending you all peace. #bloomscrolling #lupine #wildflowers #photography #california #lookingforthebrightspots

Evening walk with a break in the rain before the sun set. Grateful for this. Wishing you all a beautiful and powerful first day of the Lunar New Year. We ride at dawn. 🔥🐎 #clouds #nature #photography #california #lookingforthebrightspots

The hills are a dark silhouette across the bottom with big billowy gray and white clouds above with blue skies beyond. The lowering sun glows through a break just above the hills and a larger cluster of clouds above creates a shape loosely resembling a large heart.

May your weekend feel like this, even if just for a bit… rest is essential. Take care out there. #trees #nature #photography #california #lookingforthebrightspots

Morning sun glows through a large tree and reflects off the lake. Water is steamy from the cold air but the sky is clear blue. A dock is partially obscured by the reeds and leafy tree but two Adirondack chairs are visible. Relaxation in a photo.

This glorious work decorated the bridge this morning. I am afraid of spiders (I’m that girl) but deeply admire their art and skill. And with the drippy fog, just amazing. #nature #spiders #photography #lookingforthebrightspots

A perfectly spun web hangs from the bridge railing (unseen), suspended over the water with distant trees reflecting in the water. A foggy sky creates a soft and muted mood.

1 year later. Took PCH to LAX yesterday and while I’ve driven this route many times since it reopened, it’s sobering every time. Traffic stopped so I had time to notice the fresh green fronds growing atop its charred trunk. This is hope. #california #trees #photography #lookingforthebrightspots

A single palm tree stands tall with the Pacific Ocean blue behind it. A chain link construction fence surrounds the area and the palm’s trunk and lower leaves are charred black. Its top fronds are a bright healthy green in contrast.

From W. Kamau Bell’s posted article today… say her name. Scream it loud. We owe her that. ICE kills. #noICE #fdt #resist

On January 7, 2026, I.C.E. killed an innocent person in the streets of Minneapolis. Her name was Renee Nicole Good. She was a mom, a wife, a daughter, a poet, a humble guitar player, a community member who cared. I.C.E. killed her under the leadership of both President Donald Trump and Head of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Our political leaders in the House and the Senate must finally stand-up to our rogue president and his administration or there will without a doubt be more innocent Americans killed by I.C.E. Justice for Renee Nicole Good.

I thought maybe a little diversion would be nice. So here are the wild parakeets who believe they own my bird feeder, arriving yesterday during a break between storms. They are greedy and loud but I love them so. Also FDT. WTAF. #bitds #nature #photography #california #lookingforthebrightspots

First morning walk of the new year. Visited my spirit tree, this grand mother of an oak, because I needed to give her hug and feel her strength flow back into me. This is the view from her center. Take of yourselves and each other in the coming year. Peace. #trees #nature #photography

Looking up from the center of a grand oak, with the lens capturing only maybe 10% of her canopy. Her trunk too wide to capture accurately as well. She is much larger than she appears. The sky beyond her wet dark branches and green leaves is barely gray, brightened by the sun that is cloaked by the clouds.
