Malicious npm packages evade install-script defenses at runtime
An ongoing npm malware campaign involving the 'indexed-btree' package shows how threat actors bypass supply chain defenses by hiding malicious code in a package's normal runtime behavior rather than in installation scripts.

An Undercover Google Analyst Infiltrated a Notorious Supply-Chain Hacking Gang
TeamPCP pulled off the worst-ever software supply-chain hacking spree and breached thousands of companies. Now Google’s threat intelligence group says it had a mole inside the hackers’ inner circle.

5) lobby your state reps by going to events they're going to be at and getting people in their circle talking about digital literacy 6) speak at open meetings with tech subjects on the agenda

Anyway, things you can do to help: 1) buy refurbished 2) complain early and often about bugs 3) donate to and volunteer with your local National Digital Inclusion Alliance-member nonprofit (www.digitalinclusion.org) 4) connect with community colleges and free/low-cost events and share your knowledge

So who cares about security if the company's still profitable. Business people reduced to walking talking rubber stamps and monkeys on typewriters. If the US wants to compete, we need graduates ready to create and innovate, and management willing to invest in loss leaders.

It falls on nonprofits to fill the gap for the poor. For the middle class and the rich, they generally don't have to care unless they're in tech, and the mandates set for tech workers are operational or prod goals, not quality or security criteria.

One of the most humbling lessons I took from being a technician is how little anyone cares about security except the security community... and not bc we're obsessed, but bc big tech, big industry, and policymakers do not care about digital literacy.

And I want to be clear: there were already laws and law enforcement agencies policing everything ICE and their supporters point to for why they have to be such intolerable thugs, all they did new since 2001 was direct that violence at regular civilians instead of hardened criminals

Sabotage @sbtg.bsky.social · 06/10/2025
We are the largest and wealthiest country in the western hemisphere and because of that we will always have net positive immigration under a fair system, there's no reason for ICE to exist as an agency and every effort to convince us otherwise is and has always been fascist propaganda

Honestly our immigration system was fine up until the homeland security act dismantled it, fired thousands of caseworkers and replaced them with cops, thus answering every expired Visa with state sanctioned violence

When they can't run they struggle with even mild criticism, let alone actual opposition. So start a local advocacy group that takes away their advantage or mucks up their plans. Find the lynchpin in whatever thing they just can't seem to let go of, and go after that.

Sabotage @sbtg.bsky.social · 18/09/2025
But their methods and strategies are easily undermined on a level playing field. That's why ICE is struggling with people protesting at their facilities and Trump's UK trip is a flop.

It's all hopeless until you realize Nazis fall to any sustained opposition, and they always have, because they're stupid. Like locusts, they grow and sustain the swarm by constantly pivoting away from what they can't quickly exploit, until they've carved out just enough safety for themselves.

From Milton Mayer's "They Thought They Were Free" I first read it in November and I'm rereading it now. It crushing feeling the exact same things as this academic did. It's the same process.
A series of four images with black text on a white background, containing a long reflective passage about how authoritarianism and oppression gradually take hold unnoticed.

First image: The text explains how small, seemingly inconsequential steps—each justified or regretted—prevent people from recognizing the larger process until it’s too late, comparing it to a farmer not noticing corn growing until it towers overhead.Second image: A colleague explains how each act is only slightly worse than the last, leading people to wait for a shocking turning point that never comes. Fear, uncertainty, and the desire not to stand alone stop people from resisting. Outsiders seem content, and those who sense danger are dismissed as alarmists.Third image: The text describes how, eventually, a small personal incident shatters self-deception, revealing that everything has changed—society, spirit, and morality. People accept things once unthinkable. Life feels normal on the surface, but principles have eroded. When realization comes, it’s too late—people are compromised by inaction.Fourth image: The writer notes how friends drift away, meetings shrink, and isolation grows, weakening resistance further. The long-awaited great occasion for mass opposition never arrives. Instead, oppression progresses step by step, each act numbing people to the next. The example is given of Nazi Germany, where atrocities escalated gradually, making it harder to resist at each stage.

3) Don't catch a felony for your political movement, such as: - manufacture, possession, or use of illegal weapons and anti-vehicle devices - terroristic threats, swatting, and "hit lists" Also feds love a conspiracy charge so don't let your friends involve you in it either.

Point is, Thor has done nothing of substance to try to stop the Stop Killing Games petition. He's not an obstacle, he's a target, and this is a hate mob.

"but it's about ethics" What are the ethics of review bombing, mass harassment, death threats, getting people fired, doxxing, swatting? Because someone disagreed with your petition?

And maybe Ross knows that. Maybe he's happy leading a new wave Nazi movement that's trying to murder people so they can keep playing The Crew. Would it be fair for me to say that? Fuck no. But that's not stopping Ross's supporters from doing worse to Thor and anyone else who wades in.

These tactics and terms are important because they are largely products of GamerGate. And we saw how that turned out. People died, it further consolidated the games industry, and it emboldened online Nazis

And like, this is a self employed streamer we're talking about, not a white house staffer or a delegate at the EU or UN. Who's the boss he's getting favor's from?? Nobody. What was he planted to do? to stop a petition that wouldn't happen until years later? That's stupid.

Under ordinary circumstances, that'd be left alone, but content farmers are stepping in and over-inflating it like it's some reality show beef. They're digging into his past to delegitimize him and create controversy, throwing around terms like "nepo baby" and "industry plant."

Firstly, most of the negative stuff Thor is rightly or wrongly getting criticized for is him engaging with his community on his own channel and expressing opinions they're soliciting from him. He wasn't even trying to stop the Stop Killing Games petition.

Been following AccursedFarms (Ross) since Freeman's Mind and Pirate Software (Thor) for at least 4 years (probably shortly after New World) and what Ross's supporters are doing for the Stop Killing Games initiative is actually insane, and in some cases, illegal.

One of the weirdest political partnerships to me is AIPAC's support of openly antisemitic GOP entities that regularly use, and even try to popularize Nazi dogwhistles and symbology, while characterizing Jewish peace advocates as anti-semitic.
