So then I explained Solid Blood to her where Kirkman and Ryan Ottley released a single issue of an ongoing series and nothing else. And that single issue was issue 27.

My wife has a very orderly and logical mind and she needs for things to make sense. And well, this is breaking her brain. “How can they release it without the other 7 issues.”

Did a blind bag for terminal and got advanced issue 10. explained to my wife that Kirkman and co. are doing these releases where you get a 7 month advance on an ongoing comic. I got Mask issue 2 the day issue 1 came out. She uhhh, she can’t handle it.

Alex Ross Marvel Dinensions is an interesting and cool book. 20 or 30 pages of double page marvel origin spreads and then the story kicks in and it’s Ross just going nuts on new villainous characters and building to a decent little conclusion. Half an art book for sure but still special.
Cover for Marvel Dinensions.

I know it’s not technically a DC comic but Kurt Busiek’s Astro City seems really relevant given the images we are seeing for The People Vs. Gorilla Grodd. One of my all time fave covers here

Of other novels that I have gotten around to lately I thought Heat 2 was very good in the way that the movie Heat was good. Doing its own thing, in its own wavelength and unconcerned with how anyone else might structure a story. A Michael Mann production from start to finish and

Hypno glasses are not the only way writers tried to explain Superman only needing glasses for his Clark Kent secret identity. I think John Byrne explained that Superman always moved his face at super speed so people never got a good look at him. Any others writer attempts at this?

You can make a strong argument that number 1 is actually Iron Man because it changed cinema (love it or hate it) for this century. Except, that ain’t entirely true. The movie that actually created our current landscape is Avengers. It proved the MCU plan could work and set us on our current path.

It always depends on how you are grading these things but for the record the greatest comic book superhero film of this century is Spider-man 2. Closely followed by Guardians and the Avengers. Dark Knight is 4 or 5.
