I recently learned that Gene Roddenberry told William Ware Theiss, the designer of the Star Trek TOS uniforms, that in the future people don't have pockets... They just stick things to their clothes instead. Now I keep noticing everyone is just sticking their phasers to their pants 👖😆

forgive the tag @gaghyogi49.bsky.social but I feel like you're the right person for this question! I want to repaint some rooms to look like The Enterprise on Star Trek TNG - Has there ever been an analysis or a cataloging of all the colors/textures on the Enterprise D?

I choose to believe that "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus has the happy ending implied in the lyrics, and not the dream sequence interpretation in the music video.

Anytime a website interrupts you with a full screen prompt you have to dismiss, just do what I do: ❌ Close the site completely and read something else.

I never got to go to the Star Trek Experience... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Tr.... but this looks like it's the closest I'll ever get!

OK Stargate fans... I have finally got my #Stargate feed to only show me things about SG-1.... You need to add Mute Words for: -AI -Artificial Intelligence -ChatGPT -LLM Not only does this let you enjoy SG-1 again but will likely make your entire BlueSky experience better. 😁

I seriously had never noticed there was a left and right handed version of the Type 2 TNG Phaser - I'm just so delighted by this! My well loved TNG Phaser laser pointer is a Lefty too!

This mini game where I hit 'show less like this' is getting a little repetitive.

hey @slicedlime.bsky.social ... is there some kind of bug with swamps and frogs? I have a pretty big world including many swamps that pre-date the release of frogs. I have never seen a Frog in the game in any of these swamps. Do Frogs only show up in *new* swamps? #Minecraft #Swamp #Frogs

Does everyone else have like 40 plus entries (and growing!) in their muted words? Love this feature so much.

I've been working, mostly poorly, at a model of the Ocean Liner Queen Mary 2. I wanted to see how some other ships compared to her so I made some 3D Prints! All 3d printed at 1:1200 scale: MS Queen Elizabeth, RMS Queen Mary, SS United States. QM2 is on the far right, kit by Revell.

A picture of various ship models. Three are 3d printed models of various ships, the Cunard Cruise Ship Queen Elizabeth, the original RMS Queen Mary, the SS United States. The fourth is a revel model kit of the Queen Mary 2.

I think it's sad that some people (and writers) find the utopian Star Trek future boring. It's actually full of dramatic potential - all these other galactic empires would be DEEPLY suspicious of this ever-growing VERY happy empire that just sucks in new member worlds

Really glad that now when I search "Superman Trailer" I don't get all the fake trailers that have been up for months.

The first snow is always when I want to start a new game of Skyrim with Frostfall enabled as a winter survival simulator. I don't know why but I do it every year.

I talked with someone today who is in their 20's and they had never heard of Reddit. After I described what it was they said "So it's like TikTok with no video?" I am still processing how I feel about this...

Superman Trailer reaction: It's a lot 'darker' than I expected. Surprised/disappointed that the first thing we see is Superman bleeding. I'm optimistic for the film still but was surprised it wasn't lighter/more fun. Guessing we'll see more of that in future trailers!

I think modern Star Trek has a real problem imagining a world where there is no money. One of the most radical things about Star Trek is that it's set in a post-scarcity future where there is literally no money. I'm not sure current writers get/like that.

My Hot Take: "Die Hard" is not a Christmas movie. It's an action movie set during Christmas - but Christmas is not the main theme. There's a difference. 🎄🌆

Hello Bluesky! I like reading and wanted a way to write about it, so I started SayburStuff where I'll be writing about books and talking about other stuff too. Here's a review I wrote about a memoir of a teenager who worked on the Ocean Liner Queen Mary!
