The layout work Shuttle MLP instructions is finally done! Thankfully, redoing the 5+ hours of lost work caused by Studio messing everything up was much faster the second time around. I hope this will be my next release in late October-November. 🤞Ps.: Also works with Ares I-X.

Announcement time! As things currently stand, I'll be at Bricking Bavaria in Augsburg, Germany, with my NASA-related ML and rocket builds. www.bricking-bavaria.de/bricking-bav...

Vulcan-Starliner might look something like this. It's not a real new project; I'm currently working on the Shuttle MLP instructions. I just took 0rig0's Atlas V N22 and my ancient Vulcan-Centaur.

Spot the difference game. Columbia, Challenger, Discovery and Atlantis/Endeavour. If the test builds will go well, I release them in December/January along with the Mobile Launch Platform. The MLP is already build tested and compatible with Ares I-X.

For a lot of reasons (don't ask), I've been lazy about posting updates. But now I have two projects to announce. Ok, MLP is older, but I wanted to release it with a Shuttle collection. When can I do the test build? Well, I really don't know, see the reasons.

Yesterday I finally finished my ML stand now it's displaying all of my current ML/MLP's. It have space for two more and some space for my rocket collection if I have to move them.

Meme rocket moments: what if the Saturn V had a 12-meter hammerhead fairing?

Oops… I accidentally started another new project again.😅

Daily SLS ML-1 update: I tweaked the leg I mentioned yesterday, and it looks much better now. Most importantly, it is finally more or less in the same plane with the adjacent legs. I also started integrating it with the existing tower prototype.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
I moved on to the LUT tower structure. The design seems doable in the style I want to achieve, but it needs a test build. I have some concerns about stability, and I definitely don't like that the rear leg on side 4 is not in the same plane with the front leg.

During today's experimental stream, I managed to make quite a bit of progress on Side 2 of the SLS ML-1. I'm calling the LOX handling area complete for now.

Any guesses as to how many pieces there will be when it's finished? It's already over 5000.

I think this area is done for now. I added a slight (-0.3°) angle to the LH2 pipes. It not just looks more accurate but solves some alignment problems too. Also there are some new (barely visible) pipework, GSE, cable trays, etc.

Fiddling with a barely visible detail at 2am, needing a slightly tricky half-plate offset so it doesn't mess up everything else? Yup, that's my style. (SLS ML-1)

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 16/06/2026
Quite a bit of back and forth, but I think I've finally found the right direction for the SLS ML-1. A few new elements also helped solve several problems I couldn't solve 3 years ago. This platform is proving to be a much bigger challenge than the Saturn ML ever was.

Sometimes a tiny detail means redesigning an entire wall just to move it half a plate over. Yes, this is THAT project.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 31/05/2026
Should I resume and continue this project one day? It is in the same scale as the Lego Artemis I set. (1:160)

I swear, it was totally unintentional. Seriously! (LH2 drop tank of the Copernicus MTV)

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
While everyone is focused on Flight 12, the stand for the MTV is starting to come together on my end. I also made a smaller version for the habitat/lander.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 22/05/2026
Experimenting with different stands for the Copernicus MTV model. In space it would work perfectly without it, but well, I'm on Earth, so I have to deal with 1G... So far this seems like the best direction, but it's definitely not final. Thoughts?

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 12/05/2026
If you thought there would be no update today, you were wrong :) Yesterday I finished designing the docking section inside the Short Saddle Truss, so that module is basically done. And today I completed the internal structure of the NTPS all the way to building steps.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Today I worked on the Copernicus MTV. Is 1.5 as a safety factor good enough for a docking port?
010
Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
Two days ago I thought I was done with the Dynetics Boosters (Pyrios) and only had the instructions left. Then I noticed a few cheese slopes weren't connected, so I had to redesign the internal structure. Bad news: now I have to do the same on 2 other variants too.
000
Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 07/05/2026
Today's topic is still the Dynetics Booster... I adapted it for Ares I and the actual SLS as well. However, I still think it looks best with the 2011 SLS Block 2 concept paint scheme.
021
Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 06/05/2026
Put SLS RAC 2 back on the backlog. It will be an interesting project, but it is far more complex than I wanted right now. Instead, I finished the nose cone for the Dynetics Booster. it only works with the 2011 SLS only right now, the actual one has different connection points.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
What the hell was I thinking… Started work on SLS RAC 2 at the weekend. I figured it would be a straightforward 21309 Saturn V modification. Then the 12-fold division of stripes and 6-fold symmetry hit me like a truck. Reminds me how the real SLS ended up as a clean sheet design.

Returning to the Ares V variants: last week I finished step editing and layout for the instructions of the two 'smaller' versions: the 2006 one (the one with 8.4m EDS, 10m core, 5 engine and 5 segment SRBs) and the 2007 version (same but 10m EDS+PF). Plenty to release this year.

While everyone is watching the Artemis II mission, I’ve finished the gigantic 12-meter fairing for the Ares V. It will be compatible with both the 2007 and 2008 versions.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 19/03/2026
I didn't originally plan to, but I also made instructions for it as it has a few fun techniques. Turns out I'd already done the instruction layout for Barbarian and Titan-Shuttle too (totally forgot, lol). So if the test build goes well, all 3 meme rockets will be published.

Anyone seen my post on X about the SLS Block 0 meme rocket what I'm worked on back in '23? Well, I finished that. I know, that LV makes no sense at all (probably this is why NASA flown EFT-1 on Delta 4 Heavy) but it was a fun side project. And speaking about meme rockets... 1/➡️ x.com/saxushu/stat...

And the long list. - A 12m hammerhead fairing for Ares V 2008 - Mars Transfer Vehicle - An extra transfer stage for the EDL It's already nearly 5k pieces extra, but no internals yet. And already have cca. 15-20% of that. Instructions? IDK yet.

Random things: - I'm still waiting for Rebrickable for the approval of the Saturn V Apollo ML instructions. It's unusually long now. - After 3 months it was about time to rebuild the Milkstool, right? - I hope that at weekend I'll have time to work on the shelf for the ML's.

Thanks the feedback! Ps.: it literally have everything: it's (relatively) large, three different kind of cone, a tiny spherical top, straight section, corrugated straight section, it should have an usable volume inside, but can be split 2-3-4 section (AFAIK NASA didn't had final decision), etc..

You can upload a file up to 512 Mb on RB. You have to upload it somewhere and it can be passed through to Rebrickable using an URL. The largest part is 154 Mb is for this MOC. And I already have a 250+ Mb file. (Not surprisingly those were the 1:160 ML's).

While I'm waiting for Rebrickable, I went back to the enormous 12 m Ares V cargo fairing. I wanted to try a different approach to building the fairing. I'm not entirely convinced by the studs, and it's still very much a prototype. What are your thoughts?

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 23/02/2026
I've done everything on my end - now it's up to Rebrickable. Looks like there won't be auto-approval this time.

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
It's actually doable to build 3 within 3,5 weeks next to a daytime job, but... I can't say that rush was healthy. (It was worse than all my exam periods combined, lol.)

Saxus' Rocket Models @saxusrm.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
ML: 1761 pages (including covers and other pages), The last step number is 2733, 5493 steps if I unfold the callouts. The rocket is 227 pages, last step number is 473 (847 total). But TBH most of the complexity is come from the amount of details and the size.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have completion. The instructions and parts lists for the Saturn V Mobile Launcher are officially finished! Next stop: Rebrickable.

I have to confess, after the exhibition I had a little post-project-depression. I'm mostly over it and in recent days I have continued to apply fixes to the instruction. I still have about a dozen items left, but the model is big and Studio is slow (and easy to mess up).
