September 30th is National Day of Truth and Reconciliation in so-called Canada. Across Turtle Island, the staff of Save Your Skin Foundation are priviledged to live, work, and play on the lands of many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Nations, who are the original stewards of this beautiful place.

Skin cancer isn’t “just skin cancer.” It can mean surgery. Treatment. Uncertainty. And, in some cases, it can be life-threatening. Taking care of your skin isn’t about being overly cautious - it’s about protecting your health. #SkinCancerAwareness #MelanomaAwareness #SaveYourSkin

🏖️ Beach season is here! And while we all love finding a shady spot to cool off, it’s important to remember that shade doesn’t mean you’re fully protected from UV exposure. ☀️ UV rays can reflect off surfaces like sand and water, reaching your skin and eyes even when you’re in the shade.

As you settle into your new habits and resolutions this month, add a skin check to your monthly routine. When checking your skin, look for any new spots, asymmetrical moles, or changes in size or colour. If you notice anything unusual, book an appointment with your dermatologist for a closer look.

Did you know that when it's caught early, the five-year survival rate of melanoma is around 90%? Plus, many cases can be prevented by taking measures like wearing SPF, covering up in the sun, and checking your skin regularly for any changes. These small habits can make all the difference. ☀️💛
