It's time for California to stand against toxic “forever chemicals“ (PFAS)! A bill is currently on the Governor's desk that would ban PFAS from cookware, cleaning products and more. Six other states have already taken this commonsense step. @governor.ca.gov please sign SB 682 into law now!

Our Ravenswood Nursery has successfully built 84 raised plant beds to support the rapidly growing restoration of this critical site. Since the levee breach late last year, salt ponds have been reconnected to bay waters-- this is crucial for establishing healthy salt marsh habitat.

Styrofoam is now banned in CA after producers failed to meet a state-mandated target of recycling 25% of it by the beginning of this year. We’re glad to see CalRecycle taking action to eliminate this harmful single-use plastic from our shelves & environment!

Our Habitat Restoration Team was treated to a day of leisure and a VIP Tour at the Cal Academy of Sciences. On the tour, we had an opportunity to step onto the Roof Garden, see collections of thousands of ichthyology and herpetology specimen, and finally wander into their gem vault.

Recently, our Habitat Restoration Team assisted Point Blue Conservation Science's STRAW team with a special wetland infrastructure project at the Hamilton Wetlands in Novato. Together, we worked to replace 10 year old rotting boards that make up this weir.

Recently, our Habitat Restoration Team went out to plant a hedgerow of native shrubs at Hamilton Wetland with the STRAW team at Point Blue Conservation Science. This hedgerow of CA wild rose, Sticky monkey flower & CA sagebrush will improve habitat quality for wildlife & assist with erosion control

The Bay Area has some scenic highway drives—and some are at risk. Hwy 37 (SR37) runs along the Sonoma Baylands & San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Frequent flooding, traffic gridlock, and outdated designs make commutes harder while cutting off thousands of acres of marshlands from the Bay.

Here's the resident burrowing owl that lives near the Novato Baylands nursery! Burrowing owls nest underground, and hunt for insects and small mammals close to the ground. Unlike most owls, burrowing owls are active during the day instead of nocturnal. #SpeciesSpotlight
