SEPTA may cut some of its most popular regional rail lines including: Paoli/Thorndale (most popular, 2.8M rides/year), Trenton (4th most popular, 2.3M rides/year), and Wilmington/Newark (1.25M rides/year).

A lot more will be cut. Check the link in bio for more details.

SEPTA rents the lines from the last slide from Amtrak.

On top of operating the lines, SEPTA also has to pay rent to Amtrak. Cutting these lines allows them to save on both rent and operations.

SEPTA also legally has to maintain rails they own, even if they don't run any trains!

This means cutting a SEPTA-owned line saves a lot less money since SEPTA still has to pay for maintenance.

How Far do your tax dollars for Transit go? After people complaining over and over that SEPTA was inefficient, I had to run the numbers of Ridership to Operating budgets and would you look at that. Not only is SEPTA good with money, but they are literally the best in the US

I just boarded a Regional Rail train after my girlfriend and I went to dinner. In only a few short months, this won't be possible with SEPTA's 9PM rail curfew unless we fully fund SEPTA! Restaurant + business owners in the 5 counties will see decreased nighttime business.

Folks, if you use SEPTA, or if you just don't want the economy of the sixth largest city the in the US to crash and burn, call these three senators to urge them to fill SEPTA's budget hole. It took me less than 15 minutes and I had a nice conversation with Farry's staffer. Do it!
