On Tyranny focuses on the concept of tyranny in the context of the modern United States politics, analyzing what Snyder calls "America's turn towards authoritarianism". Explaining that "History does not repeat, but it does instruct." A simple and profound book.

In the case of Little et al vs. Llano County et al, one of the books removed from the library shelves was "They Called Themselves the K.K.K.: The Birth of an American Terrorist Group". And yet, the cover story was to 'root out pornography'. Lying liars, the far right is trying to root out history.

Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. And unselfishness is letting other people's lives alone, not interfering with them. Selfishness always aims at creating around it an absolute uniformity of type.~Oscar Wilde
