someone with more creativity and more time on their hards could create a sign for each candidate! (altho it's a bit late now lol)
an image that shows a chemical hazard warning sign. the symbol is a square that is oriented with the pointy ends at the top and bottom like how a diamond is often represented. the square is made up of four smaller squares -- blue for health hazard, red for fire hazard, yellow for instability, and white for a specific hazard. the image shows scales from 0-4 for the blue, red, and yellow squares, and acronyms for the white square for specific hazards such as acid, alkali, corrosive, oxidizer, polimerizaton, radioactive, and use not water.

this from the gross article below describes perfectly the pathologically icky behaviour of a fairly well-loved and highly regarded writer who dated two women I know. he was in an “open relationship” with an academic, if I remember correctly. he’s married now I think.
I want sex and admiration without obligation. Ethical nonmonogamy does not create that desire but allows me to justify it. As long as I label the
arrangement correctly, I convince myself that the emotional aftermath is not mine to manage. If someone agrees to the terms, then their disappointment belongs to them.

a poster on the street in Montreal. white text and image on a black background. in the centre there’s an illustration of someone riding a fantastical creature that looks like a furry and feathery bird horse/pegasus type. on the top it say “don’t go quietly into their brighter future”, under which it says, “death to AI”. there’s other text on the poster that isn’t quite visible, but I’ve selected, pasted, and reproduced the text below to give you an idea.

where the world is a cage

showing slop images 24/7
the breakout has begun
a stampede on
the shattered pieces

If we have no 'concerns' to express about the total surveillance dystopia we're living in, it's because only a corrupt society relies on snitches, cops, and paranoia, and we've got more than a few surprises in store for powerful figures who hope modemizing these techniques will protect them.

If Al now surpasses human understanding, that's only because the dopamine-addicted bipeds and the technicians who pretend to know how to lead them are beyond help. More reasons (as if any more were necessary) to burn it all down.

If we don't shed a tear for the loss of lobotomized jobs now being advertised on billboards as ripe for replacement by AI ‘artisans,’ it's because the only thing to do with the global economy is wreck it.

If we don't shudder with fear about either ‘tech overlords’ or their ‘generalized intelligence’ who are roasting the earth to innovate college exam mimicry and deep fake pornography, it’s because to us this look not only brainless but also desperate, and the entire regime seems ripe for a big fall.

I have made the decision to withdraw as a support act for Ed Sheeran's 'The Loop' North American Tour.
I don't take the decision lightly. Ed has been a friend to me and has changed my life, I could never thank him enough for this.
But as Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation.
I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children.
I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal.
I need to be true to myself and my ancestors who resisted colonisation, and fought for a freedom that I enjoy today in Ireland.

As musicians, playing to those crowds every night is the stuff of dreams but to play in venues that silence anyone advocating for a Free Palestine is simply not an option for us.
It's important that everyone knows that the real enemy is the zionist lobby. They have worked tirelessly to silence artists who want to speak freely about a genocide happening before our eyes, for fear of retribution.
Research how much Robert Kraft has done to fight the BDS movement. That will give you a sense of what we've all been up against.
We were there for Macklemore's performance and speech. We fully supported his message, so did most of the audience in Met Life Stadium which terrifies the lobbies. Go back and read the transcript if you're in doubt. We have made the decision to depart as Ed Sheeran's band on the remaining US Loop tour, following the silencing of Macklemore by zionist lobbies.
We are a traditional Irish band who never saw ourselves playing in stadiums of that size and that opportunity is not lost on us. We have been friends with Ed for over 10 years now and will continue to be. We believe in dialogue as a means of progressing the plight of the Palestinian people. We are Irish people who understand colonialism. As founding members of the Irish Artists For Palestine movement, we are committed activists for justice and will continue to be.
This whole episode is once again serving to distract from the real issue, over 1000 Palestinians have been killed since the most recent so-called ceasefire.
Up the workers.
Free Palestine.

“filling in the area around your thought—simulating the feeling that you are having a new thought” resonates and articulates how chatbots make people (including smart colleagues, friends, family) think they are “brainstorming”, “generating ideas”, or “gaining insights” when using these products.
Models, in other words, kick off an associative chain of ideas by effectively auto-labeling queries. It's like taking the principal components derived from that data about oak trees, boat speeds, cat whiskers, and Letterbox reviews, and asking ChatGPT: "What do each of these artifacts mean?" ChatGPT will respond —and then keep the conversation going, bringing in more associations that more or less fit. But as we have already argued, this doesn't only happen to amateurs who are easy to pathologize. How is this different from the standard methodology of interpretability research? In both the cases that might be dismissed as psychosis and the ones celebrated at Al conferences, interaction with LLMs induces mental friction. They create a feeling that discovery is there. By elaborating on what you put in through a context that the model has trained on, it is able to make connections that feel both correct and expansive, filling in the area around your thought-simulating the feeling that you are having a new thought. The model helps you refine the obscurity of your prompt through a chain of associations, and suddenly you have something. This is reification at work. And when the next link in a chain of thoughts comes along, it becomes hard to resist prompting the model again.

I don’t usually share substack posts but.
Jason Arday’s death was the result of a convergence of forces that reveal the fragility of the racial settlement in post-imperial and postcolonial Britain and the contradictions of its elite institutions. He was eagerly elevated as a symbol, ruthlessly scrutinized as an anomaly, and callously discarded as a liability. His rise and fall expose the moral bankruptcy of a system that wants the appearance of racial progress without the work of structural change.

if you had “privacy features built in from the start”, would you not have built in the tamper detection/camera disabling features? also, if you had really been informed by safety experts and women’s safety orgs, you would not have produced pervert and abuse glasses. I hope Meta burns to the ground.
A Meta spokesperson said: “We designed our AI glasses with privacy and safety features built in from the start – informed by engagement with safety experts, including women’s safety organisations. Our glasses have always had an LED light that activates whenever someone captures a photo or video for their gallery.

“They also feature tamper detection technology, and we are updating the glasses to disable the camera if they detect the LED was physically tampered with or destroyed. No other kind of camera has done this and we’re proud to lead the industry forward.”

Yeah, I'm somehow not worried about it with a writer of her calibre. It sounds like she's just doing some thinking out loud in a way that she gets a response. A bit like talking to a pet. I just don't think that ChatGPT could possibly write one of her novels.
