Anyone else get a bit of anxiety when packing for a trip to Los Angeles? Like, as a bigger guy, I feel compelled to think about my outfits a bit more 🤔

Syd and I have reached the stage in life where we just bought a new vacuum and put it through its inaugural suck and are so excited to use it more 🥴

Do I think people should run more interaction in their decks, especially in EDH? Yes I also think that there are a lot of players who preach, “run more interaction” who aren’t really ready for the kind of games, and overall state of the game, that would produce.

I just saw a really good Obi-Wan fancam on TikTok with Wait for It from Hamilton and it’s actually CRAZY to me that there has been no Star Wars Broadway adaptation

Sarkhan was one of the characters that really got me into Magic during the first Tarkir set, his story was so sick to dive into 🔥

Now that Aetherdrift is out and we have some spoilers for Final Fantasy, I’m genuinely curious how we all think Foundations is going to hold up in Standard over the course of the year and beyond. Will it still be relevant and/or played by the time it rotates out in 2029?

Finally able to frame these art cards from the LotR set!! Yay for unexpected frameamajigs

I think for it being the Beta, it’s a good start. It makes sense that they’d want to address combos in the tier list. If the Core Tier is the avg precon deck, I suppose they won’t be printing any more cards deemed Game Changers in precons? Like Jeska’s Will, Trouble in Pairs, etc

I’m writing my first YouTube video script (it’s about MTG) and I genuinely feel like half the battle is swatting away doubt/imposter syndrome like it’s the proverbial fly buzzing around the room

I would def recommend Arrival (2016)! It’s genuinely such a beautiful film with a very similar cerebral feel to Inception!

I def agree it won’t do as well as LOTR. I just wonder about the mechanically unique cards we tend to get in UB sets and if it will detrimentally throw off the current Standard meta bc of it, like how the One Ring completely dominated Modern till it was banned

120

Saul Padilla @saulpad.bsky.social · 08/02/2025

Sadly Final Fantasy isn’t one of the properties I consumed earlier in life so I only know surface level stuff BUT I was just thinking about the UB set coming out soon. Do we think it’s gonna be the same size as LOTR? My guess is that it will flood the formats it’s legal in

I could definitely see it being a politics piece in established pods but, out in the wild, idk if it feasibly ever gets allowed to resolve It’s the exponential modifier factor *on top* of it being able to activate itself in response to removal, like one would do with treasure tokens vs a board wipe

110

Saul Padilla @saulpad.bsky.social · 28/01/2025

Listen, I run Krark-Clan Ironworks in an artifact token EDH deck and this is CRAZY to me. I’m not gonna fault anyone who runs more removal/counterspells to offset power creep. This just means that we need to keep our threat assessment skills sharp as every new set releases.
