straftat HUD has this really neat worn metal look, with pipes that iirc react to the camera's movement

i like thick firm pillows so hotel beds are kind of a nightmare. they either have really thin pillows or pillows that immediately smoosh down and collapse

jokes aside it's interesting that it's one of the few mainline mario games i can think of that doesn't reuse the SMB undergeound motif

thinking again about how much i love metalloid maniac and metal motto search. perfect mix of ridiculous yet empathetic. like damn it really is like that when you're really passionate about something that makes no sense to everyone else. sam i hope you get to produce 40 seasons of the MMS cartoon

was curious to see what people said about it at the time but ig it's not that surprising that reddit said that it's wacky cartoon guys so it can't be racist

000

SauceDLX @saucedlx.bsky.social · 29/06/2025

it's only kinda weird for a popular 90s game to have blatant racist caricatures but it is def weird that its popular 2010s remake keeps it in like it's not a big deal

RAElike organizations suck so bad. but. it would be kinda funny if you had some english equivalent of it announcing shit like "don't write milfs that's wrong. it should be milves because that's how words ending in f are pluralized"

sometimes i miss being more of a hater about inconsequential things. dunno if i avoid it out of not wanting to be mean or not being confident in my own takes but damn idk

000

SauceDLX @saucedlx.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

sometimes when handwriting i stack them vertically, which seems like a pretty good compromise to me but it's not something you can consistently do on computer. like theoretically you could do "̣ or .̎ but with most fonts it won't look right

000

SauceDLX @saucedlx.bsky.social · 26/04/2025

my main non-spelling orthographical hot take is i don't like putting ending quotation marks after punctuation. either the quote includes punctuation and you put it within the quote for that reason (only really makes sense with ? or !) or it doesn't and you put it afterwards

i love how when people play ghost trick they start out being snarky about its title drops, but then it keeps being so insistent and shameless about it that they just accept it. really shows the power of "what are we some kinda suicide squad" type writing if done with actual confidence

my review of Kirby gimmicks

Adv S+ - Copy Abilities - THE gimmick of all time. So good it graduated to a series mainstay
DL2 A - Animal Friends - Modifies moveset in a fun way, combines well with copy abilities
KSS C - Helpers - Don't affect gameplay much but pretty alright, multiplayer is good but it ends up weirdly asymmetrical
DL3 B+ - Animal Friends But More Of Them - Still good and there are more of them, but after KSS's ability system it doesn't feel like as big of a deal
K64 A - Double Abilities - Really fun expansion on the ability system; somewhat like animal friends but more of a constant core system instead of a powerup
RDL B - Big Abilities - Fairly situational but the gameplay loop of using a temporary powerup to find a hidden area is fun
3DX D - Big Suck (Derogatory) - It's like big abilities but way more linear, pretty much a cutscene
Rbb A - Robobot Armor - Moveset changes that multiply with different abilities continue to be peak, good evolution on animal friends
KSA D - Allies - Helpers but more mandatory, not interesting enough to actually be more mandatory
KFL B - Big Suck (Positive) - Good additional powerup system, slightly situational and don't directly interact with copy abilities but have varied and fun interactions with the level design

010

SauceDLX @saucedlx.bsky.social · 27/03/2025

it's not terrible or anything but it does bother me when UIs change without adding any sort of new functionality for me. like i've gotten used to the way youtube is now, but for the way i use it the late 2010s UI was way more comfortable
