Will this add new mechanics or mostly rework/clarify/polish the existing rules? Asking to know if I might have to update Utgar's Chronicles once 2E is released 😅

if you study hard and become good at any given craft, you'll eventually see success unless, of course, it's 2026, and you're on the worst timeline terrytao.wordpress.com/2026/09/11/a...

A Severe Misalignment of AI in Mathematics

there used to be a strong correlation between seeing neat things online, and the person who made it: 1. is very knowledgeable and passionate about it 2. put love and care into it 3. is getting recognition for it but that trust is now gone, the grifters skipped to step 3, the slop ghouls have won

this wave of AI has legitimately killed a huge part of what I loved about seeing stuff online, what I loved about being an educator, and what I loved about sharing my own work I just don't feel like doing it anymore

Even if the result is 100% byte-identical (to use a Claude-ism), it's just not the same in a way I'm having a really hard time putting into words. I guess I'm finding that I was always way more fascinated by the process rather than the result.

What's making me really sad in the age of AI is that it completely removed this sense of wonder and awe from people's side projects for me. I really miss the "Holy shit, someone's brain actually did that" feeling I used to get. Like, now I see some really impressive projects and just go "eh".

On a more positive note: I had my first CS exam on Saturday ("Intro to Imperative Programming" lmao). It went... as expected. Exam was set for 120 min. I was done after 35. I got *really* paranoid for a bit that I had, like, missed another half of the exam or something 😅

I have my first end of semester exam for my math degree on Friday. I'm only mildly panicking. I'll need you to collectively cross your fingers for me 😨

That's kind of my problem with the whole LLM-assisted coding workflow. If you're diligent about it, the results can be just as good (± some variance based on the task) as me doing it myself, just faster. It just absolutely sucks the joy out of the process for me.

How enjoyable/exhausting did you find the process? Having to review 100,000 lines of generated code sounds super exhausting and not all that enjoyable to me. Not judging or making a value statement, just genuinely curious about your experience.

fixed your headline
A hit song on the Billboard 100 charts is termed *$k$-good* if it is _ever_ in a weekly top-$k$, and *$k$-immediate* if it _debuts_ in the top-$k$.

An artist is *$(n,k)$-Olivian* if their $n$ first $k$-good hits are all also $k$-immediate.

*Headline 1.* Olivia Rodrigo is the first $(10,10)$-Olivian woman.

I've made a Kubernetes that runs in the browser, and today we're open sourcing it. The hope here is to make super interactive and visual web content about Kubernetes much easier to write, and we have a whole bunch planned this year. Repo: github.com/ngrok/webern... Demo: webernetes-demo.ngrok.app

I'm mentoring a lot of junior devs at my current job. By far the most common design advice I give them is to separate the thing that produces a value from the thing(s) that consumes the value. It's incredible how often that ends up massively simplifying the problem space.
