The problem is that the money that I didn’t spend on it now feels like free money

I was so very close to buying the Diptyque one. Much debating in the GC. Then I did come to my senses when I saw the products but I felt a little bereft.

Although in the past have been seduced a perfume sample in the box and then had to take out a mortgage to buy a full-sized bottle. (Except I used my Liberty savings account/Ponzi scheme so it felt like it was free!)

It seemed too gourmand-y tor my sharp/tart tastes so just sprayed some on a piece of paper, which I then had to throw in an enclosed bin because it was making me feel 🤢

I always recommend Penny Vincenzi's books as a methadone hit after OD-ing on The Cazalet Chronicles and being bereft it's over. The hefty Forbidden Places set during WW2 is about three well-heeled ladies and their marriages & friendship. A 99p Kindle Daily Deal! link.amazon/A08047qyP (paid link)

I’ve just paid £7.28 for a book of eight second class stamps, which shocked me to the core because I prefer to live in an alternate dimension where a second class stamp should cost no more than 50p. (Equally a choccy bar from the newsy should also cost no more than 70p tops.)

One of my favourite romcoms of last year and her debut adult novel, Overdue by Stephanie Perkins is 99p for Kindle. It's slow burn, friends to lovers, set in both a library AND a bookshop and it's full of big feelings, complex characters and yearning. link.amazon/B0iYtF5mv (paid link)

I loved this and as a huge fan of ballet stories sad I missed out on The Ballet Twins as a child. Did you ever read Lorna Hill's Sadler's Wells series? Especially the first book A Dream Of Sadler's Well. Lots of Clothes in Books material in that one!
