Drawing on my cintiq (13HDT) has felt like ass for a long time, and it turns out the newer wacom drivers for my ancient cintiq don't play well with CSP. Installed the oldest driver compatible w/ my computer & seems to have fixed it. Y'ALL, it was so subtle I've been gaslighting myself for months! 🥲

One in particular (James)--a thin young man with long features-- sits at the central table, currently alone, hunched dully over his lunch, lost in thought. PANEL 2: One of his coworkers (Chelo)--short and stocky with a heart-shaped face and fluffy black hair--drops into the chair across from him with her own lunch, rolling a mandarin orange to him. Chelo: Ey, quit brooding. PANEL 3: James regards the orange like a foreign substance as he picks it up. James: I'm not brooding. Chelo: You getting enough sleep? PANEL 4: James shrugs and starts to peel the orange. PANEL 5: Chelo (wary): That's a "No?" PANEL 6: JAMES (nonchalant, continuing to peel): I just have something I'm working out.

PANEL 1: Chelo (resting her chin on a hand): Okay~. Well, get at least one eight hour night this week, alright? Rest is a part of work. James (raising an orange slice to his mouth): U-huh. PANEL 2: Chelo (earnestly): I mean it. Sleep deficit begets brain poison. PANEL 3: James (defensive, finally looking her in the eye): I KNOW, Chelo. I'm an adult. I can manage my own brain poison. PANEL 4: James (glances aside, arrogantly evasive): I'm sure you were pulling all-nighters at my age too. PANEL 5: Chelo (with a wry smile): He admits it... PANEL 6: James gets up, annoyed and far too sleep-deprived for this. PANEL 7: Chelo sighs as he leaves, thinking to herself "Dang self-destructive kids..." The young intern (Heather) has entered the panel too with her lunchbox, watching James leave. He's keeping this thing he's been working on after hours a secret, and the intern really wants to know what it is.

A semi-terrestrial mermaid--late 20's in age, blue-green scales, glasses, long brown hair in a loose braid over one shoulder, a scar through his right eyebrow-- sits under a willow tree in a graveyard. His gaze is averted as he processes some complex emotions surrounding family, grief, and trauma.

Synopsis: When he was thirteen, Julienne accidentally killed his best friend's father in self-defense. Fueled by the stigma surrounding his siren-like species, the courts imprisoned him until, many years later, his estranged best friend has managed to negotiate his acquittal. Greatly changed by their lives apart, she invites him into a world outside the small-town terrors of their adolescence, where even a hydrophin raised in self-loathing may learn to be free. Happy St. Patrick's Day from the patron saint of Very Anxious kids who bring down shitty authoritarian governments. +++ (It's an old tradition of mine to draw Patrick (the primary protagonist of "The Bioroboticist"'s sequel) on St. Patrick's Day.☘️✨ It was fun to draw the kids. I miss them!)

A nervous teenager with four arms, dark curly hair, and a heart-shaped face glances back at someone off screen. He offers a wave of greeting, though he is very socially anxious.

Assorted sketches of the character from the first image: 1. Hiding behind a text book, one hand buried in his hair. 2. Wearing a uniform with the designation "ICNS 006" across the front. 3. Walking, head down, his gaze turbid. 4. A shy smile, looking away 5. Blushing hard and clutching his hands together in surprise as he stares down at someone--he's caught feelings. 6. Standing in a line of his teammates--over a head taller than all of them--in athletic attire and wearing a supportive back brace and opening a water bottle while his teammates gossip amongst themselves.

Story synopsis:
The resistance is advancing. The emerging dictatorship has issued blood tests in every high school across the nation, and a socially anxious teen named Patrick tests positive for latent superhuman abilities. The genes are rare, and with only five other kids, Patrick is unwillingly shipped off to a specialized military facility to fight for a cause he doesn't believe in. While each of his teammates' abilities is more powerful than the last, Patrick is horrified to discover his own genes simply produce a growth spurt and an extra pair of arms.

But keeping up with his teammates soon becomes the least of his concerns. When a risky counterstrike by the rebellion goes awry, he and his sabotaged teammates' role within the military begins to change, and suddenly everything that made timid, four-armed Patrick the weakest link becomes a narrow window of opportunity.

As lines of master, friend, and enemy blur, Patrick must make an impossible choice: Get back in line, or strike the match?
