I'm glad I picked up sewing as a hobby this year, it is a good distraction from the absolutely disastrous gardening season I'm having. Not sure I will have enough tomatoes to do a canning batch. I think I will just focus on eating fresh. 😓

This year's red onion harvest was more impressive than the white onions, who really struggled through the worst part of the drought.

Celery processing day was this week. Two gallon freezer bags plus more I left in the ground.

In the last week I've gotten in the ground: a replacement American hazelnut, three more red Heritage raspberries, Purple Passion asparagus bare roots, Mary Washington asparagus seedlings, Black Knight butterfly bush. Still to come I have two self-pollinating hardy kiwi vines and a second lilac bush.

This spring has been a constant reminder of our dog we lost in October. He was my constant, easy garden companion and nothing is the same without him. Our new puppy is equally as helpful, as you can see. There's never enough time with them.

Spouse and I found someone's pet cat -collar, no tags - outside on our property today, passed away, probably from a car strike. A big brown tabby with a healthy looking coat. Don't let your cats outside. It's not worth this risk. 💔
