I think it’s more that the internet and how people access it has changed. People won’t read 20 page long recaps on their phones. There wouldn’t be all those forums with social media/reddit. Probably less money from ads than ever, too. Content is the least of the problems.

Like I would love love love a truly accessible subway system with frequent and fast trains that didn’t make me go into Manhattan first if I want to go to the Bronx or Queens, but we don’t and probably never will. I don’t think this toll will meaningfully get us there but I would love to be wrong!

But before Cuomo we still had decades of needed expansion of the subway system that just hasn’t happened. The majority of stations still aren’t accessible, which is inexcusable to me.

When you go from west side highway to holland tunnel there’s a small stretch of road in the congestion zone you have to drive on. West side hwy is outside congestion zone but you can’t avoid congestion zone if you want to go to holland/Lincoln tunnels and vice versa

I think you only get one credit per day, so I would get the $3 credit on the Holland tunnel but nothing for Carey. Could be wrong! Will find out when I see the EZ pass bill.

I think it’s just one credit per day which is better than nothing but it’s a $3 credit on a toll of $13.38 or more if I also take the carey tunnel.

Going from Brooklyn to NJ, you have to enter the congestion zone to go from west side highway to the tunnels. You drive through like a block of that zone. $9 plus tunnel tolls etc.

lol it’s money for Uber which has caused much of the congestion in the first place and will continue to do so (and which I am sure you use). MTA will waste those funds. Very much doubt my commute to/from NJ at 8/10 pm will shorten. My ass is not lumpy, how dare you.

No, they made sure that people going to/from Holland and Lincoln tunnels would be taxed. You can’t go direct from West Side Highway to those tunnels — that’s the 500 ft of road I drive on

I will just say that if you are someone who has to drive through about 500 ft of lower Manhattan to go from Brooklyn to somewhere in NJ where there is no public transportation option and the only way to avoid congestion tax is to drive 60 extra miles and 2 extra hours … it kinda sucks
