I’ve been fighting to force lobbyists like Project Jupiter’s to be honest with us from the day I stepped foot in the Roundhouse. I need your support so I can keep working to hold corporations and their lobbyists accountable. Please, vote for me by Nov. 3!

Economic development doesn’t just happen at our industrial parks, our construction sites, or our chambers of commerce. It happens at the home of Karla, who employs other women in Chaparral to help educate the kids in that community at daycare.

It’s really difficult to be a kid these days, and through it all our educators have their backs. That’s why I’ll keep having our educators’ backs. Our children need them to be able to focus on doing their jobs. Thank you, AFT and NEA, for your endorsements! /7

We in government have a responsibility to address Chaparral’s issues with loose dogs. I’ll keep working until the public safety facility is fully funded. Folks deserve to be safe in their community. So do their animals. Thanks for your support, Animal Protection Voters! /8

I’ve raised nearly $5 million so far for a Chaparral public safety facility that will eventually include a sheriff’s substation, a fire station, an ambulance bay, and an animal control facility. We’re planning to break ground this year on the first half of the project. /7

The dog problem is one of the most tangible signs of how Chaparral is bursting at the seams. It’s in desperate need of local governance. I’m committed to helping address that challenge, and I’m honored to have the support of Animal Protection Voters in making it happen. /5

Rep. Sarah Silva @sarahsilva.bsky.social · 13/05/2026
I was proud to support Animal Protection Voters of NM’s efforts in 2025 to secure funding for animal shelters and animal-protection programs. Last year, Otero was the only county to receive significant funding to expand shelter resources. That will improve things in Chaparral. /4

Rep. Sarah Silva @sarahsilva.bsky.social · 13/05/2026
There aren’t enough animal control officers, and the animals they do pick up fill the shelter 75 miles away in Alamogordo. That’s too far for many folks to retrieve their animals. /3

Rep. Sarah Silva @sarahsilva.bsky.social · 13/05/2026
That isn’t currently the case in Chaparral, the state’s largest unincorporated community. Even though at least 20,000 people live there, there’s no animal shelter. Packs of dogs run wild. /2

I was bitten by a dog while campaigning in Chaparral on Election Day in 2024. It wasn’t the dog’s fault. We have a responsibility to create systems and communities where animals, just like people, are safe and can thrive. /1

We’re trimming trees and chipping wood to reduce fire risk. With the help of the N.M. Department of Agriculture we’ve tested our soil and taken steps to improve its health. We’ve built dams with rocks and branches to reduce erosion and catch more water before it flows away. /5
