I’ve worked in publishing for 17+ yrs. Good books won’t get published by trad because the audience isn’t big enough, or the market is saturated in the genre. Self pub is a viable option. Sometimes hybrid (pay to play) might even work. But most hybrid price tags seem like a money grab.

I’ve thought about this a lot, and also the Olympics. Sports culture can play a role here. When shit gets worse, and it will, brave athletes can put their foot down. I’ve always thought the NFL held enough power to cause change too.
