I deeply regret reading this piece--but also feel compelled to point out that it contains this absolutely spectacular example of Both Sides-ing it. An NYT all-timer "influencers who are accused of human trafficking and rape" are "functionally equivalent" to feminists
"Heteropessimism isn’t just for women. Men like the white nationalist Nick Fuentes and the Tate brothers — influencers who are accused of human trafficking and rape — also promote a form of heteropessimism. Their basic argument is that women are not worth the time or are something to dominate and discard, that there is something wrong with them and men are better off alone. These manosphere figures are far less thoughtful and far more hateful in their wording than feminist heteropessimists, but their argument is functionally equivalent. Both groups argue that the other half is just bad. Give up, they tell us. Both are willing to let the cycle of loneliness and atomization continue."

Search from yesterday. Of note: Today isn't the 11th. ASP isn't suspended today. Juneteenth is next Thurs It's shocking that Google doesn't care about delivering even basic accuracy in the top spot in search results. Would they behave differently in a political era that valued truth over theater?
Screenshot of a Google search: alternate side parking tomorrow. Results: AI Overview -- Yes, alternate side parking (ASP) is suspended tomorrow, June 11, 2025, for Juneteenth according to NYC.gov and CBS News. Parking meters will remain in effect.

We attended a Hudson Valley protest, notably crowded, especially for a very rainy morning I hope the commitment of people gathering on a cold, wet day inspires and fortifies all who need it

At first, I thought some evangelicals had gotten my number, and I was scrambling to block and delete. Then I finished reading the message

Made this last night. A good choice for using leftover cranberries and ingreds you probably have I almost didn't make it bc I had--for maybe the first time I'm my life--thought to take out the butter ahead. Was profoundly disappointed when it called for melting the butter. Worth the sacrifice, tho!

Friends, we have found it: the NYT opinion piece so bad, so bizarre, so insane, the comments are almost entirely against it

Friday, June 7, 6 PM: The state senate will adjourn without accepting any of Hochul's schemes. Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins says, "I don't see that as of this point today," and "I will not be back tomorrow."

Several more senators have now made statements against Hochul's half-baked alternatives, including from Deputy Leader Mike Gianaris and from Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal who represents the west side of Manhattan and has heard your calls and messages loud and clear.

The MTA board can (and may legally have to) ACT separately from Hochul on her utterly disastrous congestion pricing reversal. Worth contacting your reps this morning, as they're meeting; this site has the info to make it easy savecongestionpricing.org
