COS is announcing important changes to the Open Science Framework (OSF). OSF Projects—used for project collaboration, file mgmt, & storage—is being phased out as an active workspace over the next 6 months. This change does not affect persistence & accessibility of existing public projects. (🧵1/2)

It's also how I check for products in big purchase places like Ebay/Etsy etc - Show me the crap customer photos. I want to see this item on a woman who is size 20 and can't take a picture THEN I will know if it is a nice shirt. Everything looks good on a photo manipulated model!

So I just discovered this and very much share the ethos: Address violence against women, yes. Exclude trans people from the discussion when they have double the violence, no. notinourname.org.uk/s/zDwUWi Rare moment of 'political/opinion stuff on social media' Normal scheduling will resume.

I also remain baffled at the short sightedness of it. We are all one accident/illness away from needing PIP and the 'fraudsters' are in such a piddling minority. It's already dehumanising enough that people aren't just given the dignity of assistance without having to jump through thousand of hoops!

An interesting discursive thought piece: katinamagazine.org/content/arti... though I do think the open licence is a bit of a sticking point for me as if an article's copyright isn't legally defined correctly it will only lead to pain in the future.

What Counts as Diamond Open Access? China Has Its Own Answer.
Diamond OA is frequently associated with Latin America or European community-led initiatives, with China left out of the conversation. It shouldn’t be.

Dogs are sometimes simple creatures. While with children food bribery is not recommended you can absolutely associate the positive (e.g. food) with you with a dog. The trust of a nervous dog is hard won but totally worth it. Keep at it!

Now to try to wrangle OxFOS22, OxFOS23 and OxFOS25 into something resembling the same format so we can link the DOI on the main OxFOS page. A librarian's work is never done!

And while there's nothing 'wrong' about writing a book like that it's one of those that has been horrifically mislabelled! As a librarian I am appalled that anyone anywhere refers to it as 'romance' or 'romantic'. It's not and it never will be, it's a gothic tragedy with an unreliable narrator.

Today in 'the horrors Librarians make up' the term 'yassified clippy' came up when discussing how to make Copilot even worse. The vision was: a modernised vector style clippy with the Copilot GenAI behind it. Suffice to say it was agreed to be a bad thing.
