Did you deliberately misinterpret my point to be snarky? We know how neurons fire but we don't know how brains produce conciousness. Likewise, we know how ML "neurons" work, but we don't understand how the results emerge. Linear regression, we get ok. But layers of weight matrices, we don't.

Is reasoning ability an emergent property of a sufficiently scaled network with simple rules applied? Maybe?! Does the substrate of the network matter? Maybe not?! Until these questions resolved I don’t think you can confidently claim they don’t reason somehow.

A neuroscientist can be equally reductionist about how real neurons work. But somehow, we think, we exist. And look, I am not saying NNs are definitely conscious or reasoning. But I also don’t think it’s valid to dismiss the possibility when we don’t understand our own brains.

I just requested a ballot. Notably, I could not generate the ballot-request "postcard" through the official government website ( www.fvap.gov/florida ). Luckily, votefromabroad.org has created a service that does the exact same thing. Did they foresee such "technical difficulties"?

But even if there are edible weeds around, it is very low caloric value, no way to be enough for a whole city. Maybe enough to keep some healthy subset alive for a bit longer. Young kids, elderly, anyone sick would quickly die on this “diet”. :( They need to be liberated

Typical grass, no. It basically passes through without giving any nutritional value. Actually a bad idea because that just wastes energy, though it might make you feel temporarily full. The animals that can eat grass etc have a whole extra stomach or two for this. Some parts of some weeds may work

I lost my 19 year old Willow almost 2 years ago now. I adopted her from a shelter when I was living alone for the first time after college. I have human kids now and I used to joke she ass my first baby. But in many ways she really was. I still miss her but am grateful she was with me so long.
