Chuffed to have had one of my “Drought Thoughts” poems critiqued by Liz Berry, Paul Farley and Jay Mitra at Contains Strong Language yesterday. It was crafted after wandering on Hampstead Heath in July, same month this photo was taken, same outfit donned yesterday. Poem and outfit got good comments!

Chuffed that my poem "Spate/Abate" has made the shortlist in the Regeneration competition with Renard Press! The 100-strong longlist has now been whittled down to 50, and these poems will be published in an anthology – online launch on 16 November, when an overall winner and runner-up are announced.

It's the Spring Equinox - the first astronomical day of spring! ☀️ Longer days. Lighter evenings. Sunshine warm on your skin, birds singing, blossom in the branches.

Golden sunlight bursts through a tangle of budding trees, casting long beams of light across a mossy woodland floor. New green shoots push up through leaf litter and patches of moss, catching the glow of the morning sun. A soft haze fills the air, with a hint of warmth and life returning to the woods.

The other day a pair of herons flew over, one honking, goose-like, as it followed the other. “Wait for me!” The bats have been batting about again too and lots of chattering garden birds, including a curious chiffchaff, fluttering quite low to say hello, and my resident robin, enquiring after worms.
