Thankfully my Dad didn't suffer in this way but cancer blocked his bowel. Horrendous discomfort and a loss of dignity on top of horrific pain.

Kim Leadbeater giving some harrowing stories during the start of the assisted dying Commons debate:

'Lucy's husband, Tom, was 47 a music teacher with a young son. He had bile duct cancer, which obstructed his bowel, resulting in an agonizing death. Tom vomited fecal matter from five hours before he ultimately inhaled the feces and died. He was vomiting so violently that he could not be sedated and was conscious throughout. Lucy pleaded with the doctors to help. The doctor treating him said there was nothing he could do. His family say the look of horror on his face as he died, will never leave them."

Dentist done. Seems the stress of dealing with my Dad's cancer diagnosis, subsequent death and being his executor has resulted in teeth grinding and damage. Still at least at 53 I still don't have any fillings.

Thanks to my MP @siânberry.bsky.social for voting to progress. I will share the end of my letter to her about my Dad. "If he was my pet I would have sent him off four days earlier when he was ready to go. "There was no hope of recovery. We just all wanted his pain to be over on his terms."
