We ended up with 171 Measurements yesterday - mostly in stores. Without going into details, I think one important things these measurements do is to provide context into how bad Ventilation is in schools. Fast-Fashion-Stores having 5-10x lower share of exhaled air than schools is a societal failure
Chart titled "Distribution of CO2-Levels measured on October 10th 2026". Stacked bars with the share of visits in 3 CO₂ categories (GO IAQS: Good up to 800 ppm CO₂, Moderate 801–1,400, Unhealthy above 1,400). Gift: 0% Good, 50% Moderate, 50% Unhealthy; Department stores: 64% Good, 27% Moderate, 9% Unhealthy; Clothes shops: 92% Good, 4% Moderate, 4% Unhealthy; Supermarkets: 41% Good, 56% Moderate, 3% Unhealthy; Cinemas: 25% Good, 75% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Variety store: 33% Good, 67% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Interior decoration: 50% Good, 50% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Shoe shops: 67% Good, 33% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Shopping centres: 71% Good, 29% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Bookshops: 80% Good, 20% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Fast food: 80% Good, 20% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Drugstores: 92% Good, 8% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Sports: 100% Good, 0% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Electronics stores: 100% Good, 0% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy; Station: 100% Good, 0% Moderate, 0% Unhealthy. Two charts of daily mean CO2 levels in classrooms over a school year.

Top (Austria, ImpAQS final report): line chart from autumn 2023 to summer 2024 comparing naturally and mechanically ventilated classrooms. Naturally ventilated classrooms rise from about 650 ppm CO2 in September to between 1,300 and 1,750 ppm in autumn and winter, and only fall back below 1,000 ppm in late spring. Mechanically ventilated classrooms stay close to 1,000 ppm in autumn and winter and around 800 ppm in spring. Dashed lines mark the 1,000 ppm compliance threshold and the 800 ppm target.

Bottom (United Kingdom, SAMHE): daily mean classroom CO2 from September to June, with a shaded interquartile range and background colours for cold, intermediate and warm weather. The mean climbs from about 900 ppm in September to around 1,250 ppm in the cold months and drops to about 800 ppm by late June. A red dashed line marks the 1,500 ppm guideline from BB101. Highlighted text says that in cooler periods over 25% of monitors measured above this daily threshold.
