My first paper from my PhD is now out and open access in Biological Conservation! We estimate Singapore has lost ~17% of its squamates in the last 200 years. We also identify Gekko hulk as a promising candidate for reintroduction to our forests! Read it here! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Schematic of the MODGEE model we used to identify periods of extirpation using a detailed detection dataset for Singapore squamates. The output of this model can be used to identify promising candidates for conservation translocation.

When people argue that renewable energy sources are too expensive, remember that we don’t invade countries to seize wind farms and there are no solar cartels. Fossil fuels have enormous geopolitical, public health, and climate externalities.

Allow me to connect some dots for you: Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more. Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.
