leave them alone there bud. build a bridge and get over yourself and stop trying to make fetch happen on only your terms

if I had a dollar every time someone complained about a run at gdq or whatever and the runner in question was femme/trans/nonbinary/etc I could buy my own gamer island for these folks so they don't ever have to deal with normies ever again

I don't think I need to drive the point any further that you/the community cannot control these things and the largest thing you can control if you don't like it is to give feedback to those who can control what gets shown and maybe they'll listen, maybe they won't.

010

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 13/08/2026

Then that's what the larger post-event discussion is for, and those picking games ideally should have eyes and ears to know where the gap is. Maybe they just don't want to be part of a community, joining discords can suck, or maybe the community itself sucks, or maybe the person sucks.

110

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 13/08/2026

The screenshotted post itself is ridiculously dumb, but what people should internalise more is that you don't need to be part of a community to submit to anything (it might help, but not all the end to be), and the discussion itself is more nuanced than limited characters on this site can handle.

100

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 13/08/2026

If you feel it was bad, you can't really do much especially if it's not advice they want or are willing to take. The best thing to do is just to support them from the sidelines as best you can. Even if it's "crappy" to you, maybe someone sees it and still joins/tries out the run.

100

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 13/08/2026

And naturally, the more people that submit, the more competitive it'll be. I get wanting your game to have good showings, but I think there should be more trust in those picking those games/people to discern what would be a good showing for them. It can be frustrating, yeah!

110

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 13/08/2026

I can see where you're getting at, but I think the main problem is controlling what other people are doing. You cant really control what other people decide to do, and in the context of these marathons especially in person they are restricted to what they get in the pool -

100

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 13/08/2026

tbh getting into GDQ should be contingent on winning a pvp umamusume race between other submitters

Sub 1:20 achieved! Proud of the progress I've made in spite of not speedrunning as much for the past half year or more or so. Happy with this time for now (though I feel 1:17 is very achieveable) since I've been feeling the itch to do RPG speedruns again...

happy gommage day to me myself and I. good times with the sgdq crew, mentally taxing in ways but far more rewarding at the end when I finally accepted after years of self doubt that I am truly loved by my friends and peers and that I really belong. traveled to 3 places within the last 2 months pog

Hi gamers, I have a Maelle cosplay I ordered that doesn't fit me sadly, so hoping to find someone going to GDQ that can make use of it for finale day. Includes the full outfit and the wig, for $160. It does need one small part resewn which I'm happy to do myself. Feel free to DM me for more details🙂

I realized my second screenshot did not show what specific measurements were there lmao. In order, the measurements are for height, bust, waist, and hip.

I appreciate your support and I know you mean well, but I feel this is getting into backseating territory and I am not asking for any advice on what to submit or how to prove myself to people. Posting these things does not automatically mean I am asking for feedback or what my goals should be.

120

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 05/05/2026

Yeah I get what you mean, I just meant I don't like to deviate entirely from vanilla game, but rather make it a visually good presentation of skill and entertainment based on what I have. I already have ideas of my own that I'm working on myself.

210

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 05/05/2026

Appreciate the input, though I am old fashioned and am not into randomizers or the like and prefer the more usual basic categories. It would not feel good to submit something that I do not have the passion in just for that. If it means I have a harder time, then so be it.

110

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 05/05/2026

and I want to see it pay off in that form. Of course, I'm at the mercy of time, my personal patience, and the powers that be, but I think it'd be a huge W for the marginalized communities to be up on the stage as the finale runner.

4160

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 05/05/2026

I have some games in mind that I feel hit the spot, and I know I have the passion, the skill, and the attitude to carry that. Pardon the slight ego, but I'd like people like me to see me and then go "hey I can do that too". I've put in a lot of work to be where I'm at in my speedgames (cont)

1140

Sanjan @sanjan.info · 05/05/2026

I took some time to figure out my next huge speedrunning goals for a while. I've figured out one big goal to set, and that's to be the finale runner at a mainline GDQ. If I recall, nearly all of the finale runners have been cismasc(?), and I'd like to be the one to change that. (cont)
