She drives me fucking crazy. One of my favorite OCs I've ever written. I genuinely love her.

Stephen was quick to retract her words. “I’m sorry!” she put her hands up. “This… might have been a bad time to ask that question.” She sighed pressing a hand to her face with a sigh before staring at X once more. “I understand what you mean. We all loved him in our own way.” She placed her hand on the table, rubbing the old wooden desk. She reminisced. “I should get back to the party before someone starts trying to kill someone else.” A sly quick attempt at an escape. She hopped over the paperwork quickly and with ease. As she opened the door she stopped to turn to look towards X. “And X… I know things are hard but we’re always here for you.” A small smile was her parting gift.

X smiled and nodded his head. “Thank you, Stephen.”

Signas shook his head, “We’ll be sending X out to investigate.”

“X!?” Stephen barked a laughter. “You think he’ll do anything? He could hardly pull the trigger to kill Zero—”

“Stephen!” Signas barked.

Stephen merely shrugged with a smirk. Her eyes carefully landed on X. The smile only growing wider upon noticing X’s growing scowl. His hands tightened into fists on the table. Body rigid and staunch. But she merely took it all in stride. There was a sick joy that festered beneath her skin as she noticed the anger that flittered across X’s features. An anger that she wished to drive further into his soul.

They all knew it was unlike X to retort to violence. But shove any animal against a wall it would begin to bite back.

She looked back towards Signas. The smile maintained. “Killing Zero would be executing justice. Half the world would be enraged. And the other half…?” she paused mulling it over. Fingers tapping against the plastic table. Her eyes lazily looking about. A moment lost in thought. “Maybe they would thank me.”

In such an event we'll take this moment to offer a firm handshake to whoever this future person may be. Go forth and deliver unto the community the good word about all things Halo story and lore!

Or perhaps Issue 171 truly is where this feature definitively concludes for the rest of Living Time. And that's okay too. Something isn't great because it lasts forever—it's the time we shared and what it meant to us.

As Philip Larkin once said in An Arundel Tomb, "What will survive of us is love."

And we have loved this great journey with you all so very, very much.
