A lot of self-identifying "pro-EU" folk say they would not give up the £, agree to joining Schengen, or something something rebate/ cherry picking cakeism. In other words they are just "they need us more than we need them" shy brexiters.

I cannot believe there wasn't a quid pro quo agrees when Josh Simons stood down for him. And he doesn't strike me as a Trump. We'll have to see. I really don't know if he is the real deal and has principles or if he's just going to flip-flop a soon as he meets some resistance.

Momentum matters in politics. Once lost, it's hard to regain. Reform haven't lost the support of the commited xenophobes and fash, but they are losing the "we need a change" vote; the floating voters are floating back to traditional parties. This is hard for Farage to reverse.

No government has EVER been tied by a manifesto. A manifesto is a statement of intent, not a binding contract. The manifesto said they wouldn't put up taxes on working people and the first thing Reeves did was put up NI contributions. They hide behind manifesto pledges only when it suits them.
